I Wouldn't be surprised to see (some) remaining Barrow's all using Victoria eventually. Certainly its addition to the TPE map from May makes anything possible, & this morning service from Barrow is an extra TPE into Vic I didn't expect...

I can't see the Barrow-Victoria service on the open train times - what time is it scheduled to depart?

The plan was to keep 5 return Manchester-Barrow services per day but they won't all go to the Airport - one morning southbound service will go to Victoria (due to no path through Deansgate) and an evening northbound service will do Airport-Oxford Road ECS (before the evening peak starts) then Oxford Road-Barrow at around 17:15.

Mentioned earlier.

Although I notice that the trains don't actually connect into the GA Norwich service (although the XC service does reasonably well), so I assume that when the Norwich - Cambridge services are extended to Stansted the GA services will run in a new path between Norwich and Cambridge if this ''secures paths'' South of Cambridge.

Any timescale for Norwich to Stansted services?

After re-doubling of Ely North Junction & opening of Cambridges new Station at Chesterton, it is hoped that Norwich-Cambridge will go half-hourly. All depends on cascaded units though.

Is it still in the plans to have an interchange with the Cambridge Guided Busway when the Chesterton heavy-rail station opens ?

Yes. Large car park planned too. Still not sure of station name but Science Park should appear somewhere in the title.

As well as allowing both services to be run at once (e.g. if the Glasgow service is two hours late but not yet cancelled) without confusing the system?

See above.

I saw that but I can't find this service on the open train times, all departures from Barrow to Manchester are showing to Manchester Airport.

The TPE Timetable shows departures from Barrow as:

0435 Lancaster (Unit then forms 0546 to Windermere via Morecambe)
0532 Manchester Airport
0615 Blackpool North
0648 Manchester Airport
0850 Manchester Airport
1120 Preston
1333 Manchester Airport
1440 Manchester Airport
1720 Lancaster
2010 Preston

All the Airport services attach to portions from Blackpool at Preston, except the 0532 which runs solo throughout.

The evening 1715 you mention is shown as running to Windermere.

I also note, annoyingly, that Northern haven't taken the opportunity to provide a better evening service on the Calder Valley. If you travel from Hebden Bridge to Manchester you now have 2 fast trains per hour and 1 slow during the day. In the evening you only have 1 slow train an hour back, which makes it really unappealing. At least speed it up and make it slightly more attractive by missing out Moston, Mills Hill and Castleton! One of the reasons I mainly drive into Manchester when I could catch the train - I can't stand the one train per hour tedious all stations journey home!

1844 and 1944 XC services from Bristol to Devon and Cornwall seem to have been removed? Seems somewhat odd, 3 hours between trains then back to one an hour later on the Sunday evening?

Not everything is in the system yet, they may well reappear later :)

Not to be self-centred or anything but can anyone tell me if anything's changed at Milton Keynes, Bletchley, Northampton or Aylesbury? I can't see any changes but there's a lot to look through!

There is no telling how the Network Rail computer will react to publishing trains. Trains will be rejected if the system finds an error, so those schedules will need to be republished. As always, keep calm and wait for all the anomalies to be resolved.

Interesting that on the Fylde lines the times have been completely revamped. Clockface departures from Blackpool North off-peak as follows:
xx.03 Liverpool (now stops at Poulton too)
xx.11 York
xx.21 Huddersfield or Todmorden (via Man Vic)
xx.44 Man Airport.

Poulton has benefited as now seems to get 4 trains per hour with the Liverpool's now stopping, and also when returning there is no need to wait 40 minutes at Preston now if arriving from London on the Pendolino, as the York has been re-timed to depart at xx.48 from Preston when heading towards Blackpool North.

I wonder if this will see the end of use with 142s on Blackpool-Man Vic services now they have been extended through to Huddersfield?

If Pacers are moved off one route they'll just go on to another so less Pacers on Victoria-Blackpool could mean more on Hazel Grove-Preston instead.

You can find 142s on practically any Northern service these days & there seems no set pattern on some diagrams, a service which had a 142 today could be in the hands of a 150 or 156 tomorrow ... you can see this particularly on Manchester - Wigan services.

sincerely hoping for a Blackpool to Huds Pacer turn! :)↲↲↲on topic, how are the additional Obans being achieved? Didnt think we had sufficiant 156s for one thing and though the WHL was pritty much full of freight for a 2nd? Only way I could see it stock wise was if wiring was finished somewhere but not sure about this?↲

There are diagrams which state which traction type should be used but the booked traction frequently gets switched. Some services are less likely to get switched than others, in particular in the Manchester area Sprinter services that later work a service to Buxton, where Pacers are forbidden from travelling to.

How about a Merseytravel Pacer on a day when you are travelling from Blackpool to Huddersfield?

Could be using 156s displaced by the Cumbernauld electrification, which fingers crossed should be ready for action in May.
