It has just dawned on me today that DB has a maximum fare for a single journey, 129. So what ever route you choose, once the fare hits that magical number, any further distance is free.
i.e. Munich-Cologne costs 129 as does Munich-Hamburg direct, however Munich-Cologne-Hamburg, which is longer, also costs 129 and carrying on to Lübeck costs no extra either
ofcourse, I have a bahncard50, so the maximum I pay is 64,50
do any other railway operators have maximum fares?
