Hi Folks

The Sectional Appendix on the Network Rail website shows the permitted speed all the way along the route. Unfortunately it's not searchable!
Using a site like realtimetrains.co.uk and the advances option will give an indication of the type of train.
Which is why I said indication. Not which traction.
NOT AGAIN HAVING TO POINT THIS OUT. RTT does NOT tell you what works a train. It tells you what it is timed for. An HST or Class 91 on the route both use the same timings.
There are scandalous rumours of trains exceeding the 125mph limit as measured using GPS and/or running time between known points. Naturally, the people making these reports were mistaken. No trains go faster than 125mph in the UK except the Channel Tunnel raillink.
I know the OP is travelling on the ECML, however it's worth pointing out that Class 390's are also designed for 140mph operation. The class 92s can go 140mph but aren't allowed to as they lack in cab signalling.
Sorry but that's not correct. East Coast HST and Class 91 running times are different.
The class 92s can go 140mph but aren't allowed to as they lack incab signalling.
Think you mean class 91s?!
