Also how does a weasley little chap like Hancock manage to attract two women to be interested in him? You just wouldn't!

You could apply that same logic to Boris Johnson - a slightly overweight 50-odd-year old buffoon who is with an attractive woman 24 years his junior.

No doubt the hearty bank accounts, multiple financial investments and their respective power statuses have something to do with it.

I'm sure if Matt Hancock worked in an unremarkable 9-5 job, he wouldn't have the same effect on women. He'd probably be surfing Match.com in his spare time.

I'm not sure about Johnson's bank accounts, I think the former Mrs J struck a hard bargain and I don't know whether he is still paying maintenance. There is certainly potential once he tires of acquitting his errant colleagues.

Martha Hancock could do worse than consult the former Mrs J, and there will be maintenance to pay, I hope the former Secretary of State has a few quid tucked away, he may need it!

Exactly......I was going to suggest Boris might have the gift of the gab around the ladies, but I very much doubt it considering how he articulates himself on the Downing St podium.

Reminds me that when the considerably more overweight Nicholas ''Bunter'' Soames, grandson of Winston Churchill, was an M.P. and (very) junior Minister there was a lot of speculation about how he managed to attract women. One such paramour recounted how being made love to was ''like having a large wardrobe fall on you with the key sticking out'' which produced huge laughter on the live Parkinson TV show!

Prescott, Parkinson, Major, Mellor, just the ones I can remember, the list goes on, none are exactly pin-up material.

In the case of the former Ms Symonds; maybe she just fancied the opportunity to run the country?

Attraction isn't actually all about good looks. I read a few things about this in the new scientist around 25 year's ago and it's actually about getting noticed apparently. Kind of makes sense too as attractive people will be noticed for their looks . Famous People for being famous etc . Also on one tv program I saw , they showed that women picked prettier men while ovulating and less handsome and more rugged when not . Apparently this is because they want their offspring to potentially be more attractive , but then want a man that is perceived to be stronger and more protective.

If anybody thought any answers as to why Bojo didn't sack Mutt on Friday at Prime Minister's Questions today would be forthcoming they were disappointed as to be expected. Keir Starmer was met with the usual "cut and paste" answer about the Government's good job of rolling out the vaccination programme.

Led By Donkeys have been doing some marvellous stuff as ever, this time over Hancock with aim at Johnson's poor judgement:

Money, power and the fact he was in control of quite a few lucrative contracts (at least one of those contracts worth £28m went to the mistresses brothers company).
Perhaps not 'money'. According to a story in the Daily Mail,
Ms Coladangelo is believed to be a multi-millionaire. As well as being communications director for Oliver Bonas, the retail firm set up by her husband Oliver Tress, she has shares in the lobbying firm Luther Pendragon.

And if my memory of editions of Private Eye ad nauseam is not at fault, Luther Pendragon has excellent connections with the Conservative Party. What a surprise! (Although they seem to have been even closer than previously realised.)

NHS waiting lists in England could more than double in the coming months, the health secretary has said.
Currently, some 5.3 million people are waiting for routine operations and procedures in England.
Sajid Javid told the Sunday Telegraph he was "shocked" when officials warned him that the backlog could reach 13 million patients.

They won't, of course, it will be short of that. Javid will be congratulated for turning things around (no claps for the doctors, nurses and other hospital staff who made it happen).
No. 10 will deny any knowledge. I wonder who the fingers will be pointed at, Mr Hancock? I don't think he will be coming back any time soon. The best he can do is borrow Dave's shepherds hut and start getting those memoirs down on paper before we are all completely sick and tired of it.

Matt Hancock has now got a role at the UN, in a role trying to help Africa's economy recover from covid:

Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock has been given a role with the United Nations as a special representative.
Writing on Twitter, the ex-minister said the job would focus on helping Africa's economy recover from Covid.
It comes four months after Mr Hancock resigned from his cabinet post for breaking social distancing guidelines by kissing a colleague.
The Under Secretary General of the UN, Vera Songwe, praised his "success" in tackling the UK's pandemic response.
In a letter posted online by Mr Hancock, Ms Songwe said the "acceleration of vaccines that has led the UK move faster towards economic recovery is one testament to the strengths that you will bring to this role, together with your fiscal and monetary experience".
The announcement also comes on the day a report from MPs was published, claiming the government and its scientists' failure to do more to stop Covid spreading early in the pandemic was one of the country's worst public health failures.

Mr Hancock's official title will be "UN special representative on financial innovation and climate change for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa".
His new role will be unpaid and he will continue as a Conservative MP.
Mr Hancock said he was "honoured" to be appointed and would help "promote sustainable development", alongside working on the economic recovery.
Ms Songwe said the UN had been working with people across the world on Africa's climate actions and resilient recovery - and that she wanted to appoint Mr Hancock "given your global leadership, advocacy reach and in depth understanding of government processes through your various ministerial cabinet roles".
She added: "The role will support Africa's cause at the global level and ensure the continent builds forward better, leveraging financial innovations and working with major stakeholders like the G20, UK government and COP26."
In his acceptance letter, which he also posted on Twitter, Mr Hancock wrote: "As we recover from the pandemic so we must take this moment to ensure Africa can prosper."
The chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, Conservative MP Tom Tugendhat, said it was a "fascinating and important appointment".
He added: "Boosting the economies of Africa is one of the most essential tasks of this generation."

If his track record is anything to go by, he'll secure funding for investment into the African economy, but will assign the work to his pub mate and nothing good will end up happening.

Hasn’t he already got a job as an MP? Or does he think his prospects in the Commons are completely stuffed and is just grabbing another chance of earning lots of cash? Or does he think he will get enough brownie points to get him back on the Westminster greasy pole climb?

Is he re-united with his wife yet / is the other relationship still continuing?

Just curious ...
Assuming this is a serious question:
The ex-minister, 42, and his former aide, Miss Coladangelo, 44, appeared in high spirits as they emerged from their £87-a-night hotel tucked away in the mountains in the village of Villars-sur-Ollon, near Montreux.
From UK News Today website (of which I know nothing except I don't think it would be classified as up market so I can't vouch for its authenticity - there is a photo but so what) dated 1st October. Doubtless, he will have spent/ will be spending time interviewing for staff for his new job, such as someone to improve his PR.

Actually £87 a night is not exactly the Savoy!

It's very often the case that those in power or in high level roles often secure a nicely paid role elsewhere, despite their indiscretions and past history on their CVs.

I never thought for a moment Matt Hancock would be claiming Universal Credit or attending his local Job Centre every fortnight for a work coach appointment.

The disgraced GMP chief Ian Hopkins is another example - he left the force in complete dire straits, yet he resurfaces as Chief Executive of a recruitment agency.

He'll have to wait before he's rolling in it, the quote in #197 emphasises that it is an unpaid role; Ms Coladangelo is not exactly a pauper though and doubtless 'UN special representative on financial innovation and climate change for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa' will open a few doors in the world of finance when the time comes. What skills he brings to the table, I'm not certain; if he was successful in tackling the pandemic crisis, I'd hate to think what failure would look like.

GMP = Greater Manchester Police?

Unpaid though generous expenses. He won't be staying in the African equivalent of a Travelodge i bet.

Chris Grayling is another example, we know how much he messed up managing ferry contracts yet he has a role advising something at Felixstowe Port on £100k a year for a few hours work a week. I wouldn't be surprised if Hancock returned to cabinet under the next PM if Johnson were to go next year.

Didn't they nickname Grayling 'Failing Grayling'. He made a complete corn beef hash of the prison and probation service, then moved on to spread his love on the railways.

Tom Winsor is another who could end in the same category as Grayling and Hancock. He almost destroyed what is left of British policing back in 2012, then to cap it all he becomes the Senior Inspector of the HMIC (the first non police officer appointed in the role).

Apparently not any more:

Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock has had a job offer from the United Nations withdrawn.
Mr Hancock announced earlier this week that he had been given a role helping Africa's economy recover from Covid.
This was confirmed by a top UN official - but the BBC understands the organisation has decided not to go ahead with the appointment.
Leading figures across Africa and UK opposition parties had criticised his appointment to a global role.
Mr Hancock was not available for comment.
On Tuesday, the former health secretary tweeted a copy of the letter from UN Under-Secretary General Vera Songwe offering him the unpaid role.
He was congratulated by former cabinet colleagues, including Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, Housing Secretary Michael Gove and Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries.
But the West Suffolk MP faced a backlash from critics on social media, who pointed to the fact that a highly critical report from MPs on the UK government's handling of the pandemic had been released on the same day.
Mr Hancock's new role came four months after he resigned from his cabinet post for breaking social distancing guidelines by kissing a colleague.
He had been planning to continue as a Tory MP while working as the UN special representative on financial innovation and climate change for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
In her letter to Mr Hancock offering him the job, Ms Songwe said his "success" in handling the UK's pandemic response was a testament to the strengths he would bring to the role.
In his reply, the MP said: "As we recover from the pandemic so we must take this moment to ensure Africa can prosper."
The withdrawal of the offer was welcomed by campaign group Global Justice Now.
The group's director Nick Dearden said: "If Matt Hancock wants to help African countries recover from the pandemic, he should lobby the prime minister to back a patent waiver on Covid-19 vaccines.
"If he'd done that when he was in government, tens of millions more people could already have been vaccinated.
"The last thing the African continent needs is a failed British politician. This isn't the 19th Century."

Has anyone asked Mrs Hancock’s opinion of the latest development? That is if she can say anything between bursts of hysterical laughter, cheering and punching the air.
