The Somerset and Dorset Railway Heritage Trust,who have carried out the wonderful restoration job at Midsomer Norton,have launched an appeal to purchase Masbury station,about 6 miles down the line, with a long term view of joining the two and possibly in the longer long term reaching Shepton Mallet;

Sounds a mouth watering prospect if it could be achieved.And why not-i believe the organisation reached the 1000 member mark awhile back,so the goodwill and potential funding power would semm to be there.

HELP US BUY MASBURY STATION
The Trust has now launched its appeal to raise money to purchase Masbury station. The current owner is planning to sell the station and its site later this year, but has given our organisation first refusal, providing the necessary funds can be raised by September 30th 2013. This iconic station, very close to the line's summit on the Mendips, was once one of the places where steam train firemen could breathe a sigh of relief ahead of the descent to either Bath or Evercreech, depending on the train's direction
