I've done a search of the forum but couldn't find any information on this, forgive me if I missed it somewhere!

What is happening to Marylebone National Rail Station?

I travelled through there today and was surprised to see the Gateline has been completely removed along with the excess fares office so the Platforms are open to all for the time being!

Is there any Refurbishment going on there or why is the above the case?

The gates are being replaced with a new arrangement. They will be in a V-shaped layout.

I will try to find some more info; I noticed a poster at High Wycombe station the other day describing the new barrier arrangement.

Well, that's about the size of it. There isn't really anything much else to find out, except that the new layout will give 3 extra gates and if you want some complete trivia, the excess fares office is being stored in the car park at Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

Thanks that really made me laugh :lol: ! Especially useful there to collect revenue

On a more serious note I suppose it's a bonus to get the extra gates in operation, I saw today how busy Marylebone is in the peak time, especially when a train is announced!

There is a new two story building recently put up at the side of platform 3 (where the old track used to be for platform 4). It went up very quickly

But did it travel on a 165 or 168 to get there ?

This is the new station control room where the announcer, fitter, station manager and route controller have been brought together to manage the London end of the Chiltern operation.
