My source is only from discussions on Forums and Groups, can't be any more specific than that but if people talk about matters re wiring and other technical things I'm not inclined to disbelieve them but accept as face value. In fact, after this time, I can't turn them up without extensive searching at this stage.

So no source at all.

Plenty of people on forums saying stuff that sounds great, so everyone thinks they are the experts. Problem is they aren't always - so you need to filter stuff out.

Several years ago, I recall being told on a forum, absolutely categorically, by one of these experts that FGW wouldn't retain the centre car of 158798. Someone else, who obviously knew more, stated it was staying. Lesson in who you believe on what!

I hear class 150s will be replaced at some point this year? How true is this. What are London Midland getting as a replacement. Thanks in advance.

it isnt clear yet what will happen

Sorry to bump but has it been confirmed that the Marston Vale is losing its 150 come the timetable change?

Also, out of interest, when is the shift change at Ridgmont? Just to know when the nice, quiet periods are.

Cheers!

Not at the forthcoming one. Perhaps later. Ridgmont at shift change is fine,it isnt London Bridge ;) The very early trains are the most busy so i assume 7 am/ 7pm are the change over times

Explain to me why anyone would bother - and what the benefits would be over just joining up 2 153's.

As far as I know trains don't need to have a toilet post 2019 - but if they do then it has to be compliant.

Therefore just lock the current toilets out of use/remove them and put extra seats in, keep the second cab for operational flexibility and carry out the other DDA mods.

Well for this line i doubt they would fit in all the platforms............

But the GWR Porterbrook 153 units are not coming off lease in July. They are being extended with the backing of the DfT. The lease documentation is in the final stages of being signed off now.

How long is the proposed lease extension for?

They can extend the lease for up to 5 months and still be off-lease for transfer to LM 'in the autumn.' I seem to recall hearing Porterbrook always include an option for up to a 13 week extension if needed.

Another reason to not join them - so they can still work as single cars on BLY-BED

December 2018 - same for the PB cl.143 units. Angel cl.153 units go in March 2018.

So just for clarity, can I ask which of the 153s used on the GW Franchise is owned by who?

And apart from overhaul reasons, is there a reason why the 153s are receiving the GWR livery then if they are still on course to leave fairly early - as apposed to 'Caspers' mutual scheme.

So London Midland may end up getting back 325 & 333, after they were transferred to GWR about 5 years ago.

Both have quite a lot of "LM" remaining on them too. I was on 153325 about 15 months ago and aside from the red livery on the outside, you could you think you were still in the West Midlands, even down to the safety notices

So are Northern getting the three class 150's from London Midland? If so, what is replacing them if the GWR 153's aren't?

For all that would be quite cool I doubt it.

The 2 speculative build Class 230s? :)

damn. What about a couple of coaches and a couple of locos. We could have themed weeks and swap them around. 37's one week, Deltics the next. Lets chuck in a kettle or two! Make a fortune off spotters and bashers.

No, don't thank me LM................... ;)

( I Think you might be right about the former underground things)

Yeah, I do think there is more than a passing chance that they are building two speculatively because they think there is a high chance of hawking them to the next LM South bidder, but obviously can't sign a contract yet as the franchise is not decided.

my view entirely - that or all of the swaps fall flat and we all carry on as we are now.

I guess we should be thankful 442s won't fit in the platforms. :p

Most likely.

A shame in a sense as sending a second 153 down to Bletchley to replace the 150 would have meant more units being available to strengthen the services in the WM area.

Although would two single 153's be adequate during the peaks on the branch? Guessing not!

There were talks about a train every 45 minutes using a single car train. (A 30 minute frequency wouldn't work with existing infrastructure and signalling.)
