Hi there, just wondering if you can help me, I want to travel on the 26th, 27th or 28th of August from Marks Tey - Keighley. I am quite flexible but would prefer my train to depart at either 07.30 - 08.30 or around lunch time. Ideally would like to return on the 5th or 6th September. I have a 16-35 railcard.

I am really struggling to find a reasonable price, i understand my outward journey is around the bank holiday but any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Not just the bank holiday but Leeds Festival (and a rather smaller festival in Bradford that I'll be at) - you'll be lucky to find any cheap east coast fares.

You might find something by specifying via Leicester but it'll add about an hour onto your journey time (worth checking 1st class fares on that route - sometimes they're only £1 more - got one of those this morning) - you'll save £1 on these booking through eastmidlandstrains.co.uk

Oops - forgot to say if you go via Leicester you'll have to buy Leeds-Keighley separately. If you put in Keighley it won't give you any advance fares via Leicester.

I have a 16-35 railcard.
Welcome. If you tell others how to obtain a 16-35 railcard, you will become very popular on this forum!

To be more serious for a moment, I agree with Deerfold - travel via Leicester. To get the cheapest fares, go to East Midlands Trains, choose Click here for more options, and specify London St Pancras Intl to Leeds. Enter Go via and Barnsley. This sends you on a semi-fast Sheffield - Leeds service which does not offer reservations, so there is no Advance fare quota to sell out for that part of the journey.

I can currently see single railcard-discounted Standard Advance London - Leeds tickets in the range £17 - £22, and First Class for £21 - £34 for the dates you want. Buy Marks Tey - London and Leeds - Keighley tickets separately.

It's always worth looking for fares to Sheffield too depending on how these compare with the Leeds fares, as the Sheffield-Keighley CDR is heavily subsidised at £7.65 with 16-25 discount.

Although as the OP is returning at a later date, they would be best off with the Anytime Return (SOR) at £9.95 (Rte: Not Doncaster).
