Just like naming a bank holiday Arthur Scargill or Bob Crow day.

I was feeling a bit low until I read this part of your posting, but I certainly saw the funny side of that proposal and it really cheered me up...:D

If a Bob Crow day was announced, would any holiday pay for the day be at double time ?

How nice of this MP to waste parliamentary time with his private little crusade / ploy. Not like there are any more pressing matters for debate, right?

The actions and attitudes of some of our 'representatives' are embarrassing.

I'm afraid Thatcher Day is probably the least worst bill he and his mates submitted (and they queued for 3 days to submit them) - IE 1 years National Service at Mininmum Wage

I got half way down that list and choked on my tea.

This is absolute nonsense, if it is as well patronised as November 30th (St Andrews Day) in Scotland it will be a total waste of time.

Perhaps we should all have these days off as Public Holidays. That will give us four extra days off a year. (Well, until Scottish independence that is, by which time you guys can keep your St Andrew's Day while we get to keep the other three days. :p)

Come to think about it, why doesn't the government do that and use it as leverage in the talks about independence. ("Look, you guys can leave the UK but lose three days' holiday as a result.")

A bank holiday to celebrate her death - where do i sign? That is the proposal right.............................

+1 :)

I wouldn't normally celebrate a death, but I could be persuaded to make an exception for that.
But, in the interests of fairness and equality, if we're going to have national holiday for political reasons, maybe we could also have a Derek Hatton Day, a Ken Livingstone day, and several others.
I'm sure people can add to the list. Well, it's only right isn't it.

Ding dong.
