Map NK via Crayford

Map NK is one of the maps that shows valid routes from London Group to Slade Green.

Is travelling via Crayford a permitted route on this map? I'm struggling to align the lines shown on this map with the London Connections map.

I'd say yes, attached is my interpretation of the map, I say it's valid because of that small red line linking the Lewisham to Dartford direct line just after it is intercepted by the line from Hither Green.

It is one of the worst examples of geographical inconsistencies, yes.

But yes, via Crayford definitely is a valid route to Slade Green. An easement theoretically prohibits travel further than the second station of Barnehurst, Crayford or Slade Green that you pass through.

Isn't it only the Cannon St - Cannon St trains (2tph) that are direct from Crayford to Slade Green?

My ticket involves travelling across London so I'd never be on a through train from the actual origin printed on the ticket. Plus I didn't want to revive the debate about whether you can break your journey on a through train

Ah, if you're crossing London it's obviously not a through train.

However, even if it weren't valid, Southeastern's RPIs are all at Dartford and Greenhithe shooting oysters in a barrel, so you wouldn't get any trouble.

Have you found a fare that is different to Crayford than to Slade Green?

For a longer-distance journey I do, it's cheaper to buy a SVR from Slade Green rather than from London Terminals, so on the return portion I have use of the ticket from the Southern Region terminals to Slade Green which never usually gets used. I've been desperate to go to the Sainsburys in Crayford for ages so thought I might as well make use of this ticket so I only have to pay one way.

That's the old entrance from about 20 years ago. About time they opened it up again.

Yes, the downside entrance is open again at Crayford along with a new pathway along the route of the old approach road. Unfortunately the building work at the old town hall means that there isn't a quicker route through to Sainsbury's yet. You can get to the new library behind the town hall though.

Ah, is that really where they all are? I don't go out further than Crayford, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've encountered one on my train over the past eight years...

That's how it seems to me anyway. Plenty of people show up at both stations assuming their Oyster will be valid.
