Hi all

Can anybody recommend a good route to Wizna, for a theoretical weekend mid/late November? I'd have free a Friday evening - Sunday evening, or at a push Monday evening.

I believe the best start would be a flight to Warsaw and then coach/train, then a taxi?

I'd like to spend at least 24 hours in Wizna. Cost isn't a barrier, within reason.

Cheers :)

So now I know where the place is! Rather a long way to the nearest station - Bialystok about 50km? - so you are probably right in it being a bus from Warsaw. And fortunately Ryanair havent cancelled their flight from John Lennon to Modlin.

For travel In PL-use this national travelplanner, which is unbiased for rail vs bus and will show also combo and if chosen also ''bla-bla type ride with car'' options: e-podroznik.pl. (podr means traveller). has direct links if online bookings are available, but dont worry if there are not-just pay when there. Now IF you really go and its sure, come back here, stage age+details etc. for more advice on how to cut the fares as they are low anyway as full fare.
Tongue in cheek: just read my mails; that damned FR=Ryan now offers 5 € (or GBP, I guess) single fares for midweek only till 15/12. Theyve probably now the ned to recoup pax after their disastrous cancellings etc. also look at WZ=Wizzair for cheapo flites, from LUton they go to nearly every PL airport.

Bialystok is around 2hrs by car from Warsaw, they are still rebuild/renewing the road so could take longer
don't think its worth going all that way for maybe a day & 1/2 in Wizna

Thanks to all for your input!

I've booked a late evening Ryanair there from Birmingham on Fri 24th, and a late one back to Leeds on Sun 26th.

Should certainly be possible to get to Wizna and back thanks to the advice here.

It's more for sentimental reasons than anything touristic.

I'll still have some time in Warsaw itself thankfully
