Hi

Not sure if this is the right place to post but i'm now coming back to trainspotting after 20yrs and was wondering if it is possible to spot at Manchester Victoria especially after recent events ? Thought i would ask here before going there , any help would be very appreciated

Hi

Possible, yes. Worth it, probably not. Since everything was built over the top of it, it's quite dark and dingy, and it's not particularly the nicest place to spot IMO, even if you stand on the exposed platform end.

Vic has always been dingy! Quite a few spotters on the east end this morning, not sure what was about.

Yes and since the electrification the only place to get a decent shot would be the east end which now looks like a sea of knitting. The sides of the overbridges at each end have been raised. Everything interesting that goes through Victoria (not that there is much) goes through Salford Central too.
At least you will be able to get a direct train to Warrington BQ from May.

Yes i went the other day and like you say there wasnt much to be honest , off to Leeds next week any particular places to stand for decent shots ? I have a soft spot for Pacers so i know they still run from Leeds to Knaresborough/ Knottingley & Sheffield would like to get a few last pictures before they have gone completely although i read recently they will be used for a while by Northern , cheers for the replies btw

The end of Platform 6 is the default location for spotting, but for photography I think you'll have to do a lot of moving around.
