I will be travelling down to my son`s to stay for the Christmas week, leaving Manchester Piccadilly by around 17.00 on Friday 23rd December, the route out is not important, but I`ll be returning on Saturday 31st December and want to come back via Sleaford from Peterborough. I`ve typed this information into the National Rail journey planner and it allows me to do this for £52.00 on a railcard, but the last outward journey via Sleaford would be 13.20, it doesnt matter to me of course because I`ll be travelling down directly, but would staff at Manchester Piccadilly still beable to sell me such a ticket, after the last train Via Sleaford had already gone, despite me not actually travelling that way on the way out, if that makes sense?

Your post is a little bit garbled but I think this is what you were asking:

The only routed tickets are 'via London' (these print as +Any Permitted) and 'not via London'. A 'not via London' ticket is the £52 ticket you found, and can be used via Sleaford, or any other permitted route which doesn't go via the capital.

Assuming you avoid London, there are journey options much later than 13:20 that don't go via Sleaford, but still avoid London, for example changing at Leeds for Peterborough on the 1942 from Piccadilly on the 23rd.

So yes, you will be sold the ticket, if you request 'not via London'. If it'll put your mind at ease you can also buy the ticket online from websites such as trainsplit.com which don't charge booking fees. :)

Probably very garbled, lol apologies and many thanks for explaining it to me, very much appreciated, so basically a not via London ticket will allow me to come back from Sandy to Peterborough via Sleaford, I want the track you see, lol
