Morning all, I am hoping really someone can confirm my own tickets for this journey tomorrow. The way I have worked it is 0610 to tamworth,0730 tamworth to oxford, 0937 oxford to didcot parkway.

The return 1555 or 1655 to oxford and then oxford to manchester.

Can anyone confirm the following tickets will be ok on a priv. Manchester - crewe return. West midlands day ranger as far as leamington spa and then a day return leamington spa to didcot parkway. total cost £18.75.

Or does anyone have a cheaper way than that,

Many thanks in anticipation of your replies.

The 0610 stops at Stockport, Macclesfield and Stoke, but not Crewe. The day ranger should be valid on that train from Stoke. Manchester - Crewe is not valid via Stoke as far as I can tell unless there's an easement permitting it.

I think you will need a Manchester - Stoke ticket and not Manchester - Crewe ticket.

Happy to help. :D

Furthermore this is what I suspect that you plan on buying:

Leamington Spa - Didcot Parkway
Anytime Return
Route Oxford
Priv £11.25

On a day return you would be better off splitting along the line as most (if not all) XC services along that line call at these stations below:

Leamington Spa – Banbury
Anytime Day Return
Route Any Permitted
Priv £2.05

Banbury – Didcot Parkway
Anytime Day Return
Route Not London
Priv £3.70

Also I think your original plan was to buy a Manchester Stations - Crewe (which should now be Stoke instead) Anytime Day Return Route Virgin Trains Only for £2.50. If you're returning direct from Oxford to Manchester Piccadilly on the 1636 or 1736 then you need a Route Any Permitted ticket instead:

Manchester Stations - Stoke on Trent
Anytime Day Return
Route Any Permitted
Priv £3.80

Your total cost should hence be: 3.80 + 5 + 2.05 + 3.70 = £14.55
