Hi all

May sound silly but just need something clarifying.

Travelling from either Chapel en le Frith/Chinley tomorrow evening (non GMPTE stations) to Manchester and going onto Oldham via bus for tomorrow's League One game v Carlisle Utd (take advantage of £2 admission!!) Am I right in thinking Manchester plusbus would cover the bus journey to Oldham?

Thanks

Tom

Considering a move to Memphis
Manchester Plusbus seems to be the whole of the Greater Manchester PTE area - so Yes.

I would advise printing out the map, list of boundary points and participating operators though - just in case.

For Oldham Athletic, 24, 181 and 182 go direct from stop F on Lever Street.

I've never had any problems using Plusbus in Greater Manchester.

Never had much problem getting and using plusbus' anywhere including a few in Manchester
Although I did have one guard who claimed you couldn't get a railcard discount but after he rang retail control it emerged he'd never issued one before. Therefore the positive was he learned how to issue one and that R/C discount was available.
Some bus drivers look at them with intrigue for a long time but most eventually decide there valid plus many have PlusBus logo round the outside.

Boarded at Chinley which is outside the GMPTE area and was told there no such ticket as Chinley plusbus. I asked him to input code J819 and it didn't appear. Anyone want to advise me what I'm best doing as its going to cost a few quid more on the bus in Manchester.

Go to the ticket office at Manchester Piccadilly and get the Plusbus there as they can be issued seperately but you must show your existing rail ticket.

This was probably where the conductor came unstuck, as from Chinley, a Manchester Plusbus has to be done as :-

1.Chinley - Manchester Stns
2.Manchester Stns - Manch Stns+Bus

rather than

Chinley - Manch Stns+bus

The latter can be done in some cases.

Whilst such tickets can potentially be issued, there was a change to the issuing instructions with last September's fares round, to the effect that all PlusBus tickets MUST be issued separately from the rail tickets.

Day tickets now have PLUSBUS DAY printed in big letters, along with a ticket type of Plusbus Day, thus making it easier for the bus drivers to identify them as valid.

Cheers,

Barry
