Hi guys does anyone know the highest point between Manchester and Sheffield (Hope valley) for a future journey , thank you

There are probably others who can pin point the exact location but I would guess it’s somewhere very close to Edale Station.

Hopefully someone will know for definite. I'd have said maybe part way in from the Eastern portal of Cowburn Tunnel, at around 875 feet (267 metres) above sea level.

You may be correct. It’s a few years since I last stood on Edale Station and I couldn’t remember whether the line continued to climb towards Cowburn Tunnel.

The summit is definitely not far in from the Eastern Portal. I believe it is also the deepest tunnel in the country.

Apparently the summit of Cowburn Tunnel (and the line itself) is actually some 913 yards in from the Edale entrance. That's about a quarter of the way into the tunnel (the full tunnel length being 3,702 yards long).
