Does anyone know whats going on at the former Manchester Mayfield Station? went past on Sunday and notice all the top windows had got fresh boarding and it looks like some sort of construction work had began, i took a photo

Have they not be tearing it up/apart fro the least year or so? I seem to remember on me last trip to Manchester that they were ripping up the station.

Im sure theres a big thread on it on here too

Going to be using it as a storage compound for Piccadilly 15/16 works so probably more work to make the building safe.

The train shed roof has been removed but there seems nothing concrete on the main station building.

Yes, the area has been zoned for office development by the council in partnership with Network Rail, they are setting up a joint development company to develop it. There was a license granted for it to be a nightclub in the short term but thats been cancelled as NR needs it sooner than expected for Picadilly platforms.

Living 100 metres from the site I can assure you there is a fair bit of (noisy) work going on. Much of the industrial estate at the rear of the site has recently been flattened.

Cheers for that, i remember the Building caught fire a week years back, hopefully its not to badly damaged.
