I'm looking to go up to Dundee with a friend for a weekend event, on the Saturday and Sunday 16+17 March. I have a 16-25 Railcard, he doesn't.
We'd need to get there before midday on the Saturday, and be able to stay late into the evening on the Sunday. Hotel twin room is £32/night ( = £16/person/night) so it looks like returning on the Monday with the following itinerary (via Haymarket) is potentially the cheapest (the alternate is the Sleeper with a change at Preston and is more expensive):
16th
06:02 MAN-HYM £27 Advance (£13.50 with TPE's 50% Railcard discount)
09:34 HYM-DEE £10.50 Advance (£7.00 with 33% discount)
18th
09:32 DEE-HYM £6.00 Advance (£4.00 with 33% discount)
14:11 or 16:16 HYM-MAN £30.00 Advance (£15.00 with 50% discount)
That gives £39.50 for me, and £73.50 for my friend. Is that the cheapest, or is there something I'm overlooking?
Thanks to anyone who tries to help!
