Who actually manages Stratford station these days? On wikipedia it just says Transport For London but is it managed by Elizabeth Line (MTR Crossrail) or London Overground (Arriva Rail London) or London Underground now?

Also was this station previously managed by someone else before? Am i correct in presuming this station was managed by Greater Anglia but switched in 2015 when London Overground and TFL Rail took over all of those suburban lines?

Don't even need to scroll down on National Rail Enquiries.

Thank you for this. I never thought to look there. So i think being an Elizabeth Line managed station probably confirms my presumption that before 2015 it was Greater Anglia managed.

Does it mean it's operated by TfL though or the train operator (currently MTR)?

Stratford is an oddity, although MTR Elizabeth line are the Station Facility Owner (SFO), but London Underground manage the gate lines at the 3 current exits (Westfield/Carpenters Estate & Stratford Centre).

Just to further complicate matters, each TOC have staff on “their” platforms which is split as:

Platforms 1/2 - Arriva Rail London
Platforms 3/3A/6 - London Underground
Platforms 5/8 - MTR Elizabeth line
Platforms 9/10/10A/11/12 - Greater Anglia
Platforms 13/14/15 - London Underground

I’m not sure if the DLR have anyone permanently on their platforms, I haven’t seen anyone in passing but may have missed them.

So all in all, rather complicated!

and to make it even worse, platforms 1 & 2 are located next to Platform 12!

MTR (until May '25) Elizabeth line which is a concession through TfL of course hence all the TfL branding.

DLR don't really have station staff, so no.

It is a very complicated station - at one time during Covid the busiest in the country - with all sorts of staff and services milling about.

The station needs a major redesign, which has been mooted but it would be quite disruptive.

I'm surprised its not NR managed

It would seem like a good candidate for one, given the plethora of services. I guess that the vast majority are TfL run (Overground, DLR, Elizabeth line, Underground) has determined why it's this way round.

I found a forum post from way back that said Stratford was managed by LU when the Jubilee extension first opened in 1999. Of course that didn’t mean there weren’t TOC platform staff about at the same time.

I’ve always known it to be managed by TfL in the last 20 or so years. Any comments to GA Twitter/X about the station have always deflected them away as not responsible.

Are the Stratford stations toilets ever open?
Not very often (if at all now), there are usually signs directing to the free facilities within the Westfield shopping centre.

Completely agree with the lack of canopies as a GA customer, waiting on platforms 10/10A during wet weather isn’t pleasant. I’ve recently switched roles and now travel to and from Romford, which admittedly has better facilities and shelter compared to Stratford!

Greater Anglia managed the National Rail ticket office until TFL rail took over in 2015. Operation of it should’ve remained under them in my opinion, given the customer service needs of TFL services and GA services are very different. Notably there seems to be no plan to install barcode scanners at the gates for e-tickets.
