As said in the article this doesn't appear to be a UK train judging by the loco. The Sun said:
Surely they must know about the class of the train?
Looking at the clip ye've taken, the train also appears to be running right-hand...We always run left-hand over here. Also, that loco (To my admittedly inexperienced eye) looks rather Polish. As said in the article this doesn't appear to be a UK train judging by the loco.

I share thy sentiments in all regards.A stunt which I will never try. Idiotic & Suicidal.
Admittedly, I wouldn't mind experiencing what it'd be like for a 390 to pass over me at the 140mph top-whack... and would no doubt involve the construction of a proper "suicide pit" well below sleeper level for me to lie down in.
If anyone thinks I'm lying on the sleepers in the four-foot for any reason, they can "Foxtrot" right off!![]()
It should be safe for you to lie on the sleepers as long as no part of you extends above the top of the rail.
If you look at level crossings, quaysides and anywhere that rail meets tarmac, the tarmac between the rails is flush with the top of the rails which is why the guy in the video didn't get killed
The other thing to bear in mind is that while the wheels will sit at rail-head level, other bits of equipment could easily dangle down into the space between the rail head and the sleepers. Although not an official part of the loading gauge, that little "trough" is probably used by equipment designers/retrofitters to provide slack space for temporary equipment and track sensors/scanners/cameras etc.And herein lies probably the silliest post on this thread!
If you're not above rail level (which would be very hard to achieve unless you're anorexic) you may not be hit by any piece of train equipment per se, but the wind forces will be very strong probably pulling you into it, not to mention the other dangers from lying down on a live railway line

The wind does not pull, it pushes.
Ever heard of Daniel Bernoulli?![]()
I can't find out what you mean by that question, is it like Joseph Thompson and Benjamin Franklin's argument about what way current flows in a conductor but with air instead of copper?
The name Bernoulli rang a bell, I googled "Daniel Bernoulli XKCD" and got this

I can't find out what you mean by that question,
No. he was a famous mathematician and physicist who studied the kinetic behaviour of gases.
Not sure whether it was in UK? Surely they must know about the class of the train? Anyway must be a slow news day.
Oops, I forgot to say I did read a bit about his achievements and work into fluid dynamics.
Please do not insult my intelegence and say that rag in the link is a working class paper. As a working class man myself i do not buy this rubbish and havent done so since 1984. Unless of course you are being ironic i feel absolutley insulted by the insinuation.
Lighten up. It was done in the name of humour.
He he. I wasn't sure whether 313103 was being funny either and pretending to be insulted. There's so much irony and sardonic behaviour I don't even know when I'm doing it.

I just hope Brass Eye doesn't get repeated on telly.
Why not? There are quite a lot of posters on here who are to young to remember this programme.
