Im looking for cheap tickets to go from Man Picc To CDF next Wed. Going about 0830am or 0930am. Not sure what time Im coing back. Do not want reserve seats.

Cwmbran's a good place to split tickets at if heading for CDF. Given the time your heading out you might try and split at Wilmslow or Crewe. You basically have to play around and work on it.

Try http://traintimes.org.uk/ its easier than National Rails site.

Not an expert on the route but checking some where splits are likely:

£19.80 Manchester > Shrewsbury off-peak day return route NOT Wolverhampton

£23.80 Shrewsbury > Cwmbran off-peak day return

£6.50 Cwmbran > Cardiff Central anytime day return

Total cost £50.10, down from £61.90 walk-on fare

All of this is valid on the direct services between Manchester and Cardiff. Note that your first ticket is not valid before the 08:30.
