Do you happen to have any idea of when these are due to start? I was put on hold for the previous vacancy and have had my application resubmitted for this. I'm due to go on holiday at the beginning of June and just hope if I do get any further then the dates will not clash.

Hi Neil, ah right I hadn't really read the advert, as I've not had to reapply. Cheers mate, as ever I won't be holding my breath, but you've got to put yourself in to have a chance. Will you be applying?

There is not a long time to get people through the online test, assessments, interview and medical for a July start not to mention giving notice to your employer.

Does anybody know how the links work for Northern at Pic? I'm assuming all drivers dont do all routes straight away? I can imagine its a brilliant job with lots of variety. Would a new driver do Stoke, Crewe and Sheffield runs? Or just local ones like Glossop and Rose Hill etc???

A cynical way of looking at it might be that they will be aware that TPE have just held a recruitment drive and there must be people who have passed all the tests with them but who have their applications 'on hold' as perhaps they weren't in the final cut.

If they can pick up some applicants from the TPE process and take their assessment passes, it saves them both time and money? If the candidates only have to do an online test, manager interview and medical, July is all of a sudden very realistic.

Might not be a goer, that. Northern do the mech comp test, TPE do not, and I know of at least two posters on here who were turned down by Northern last year for precisely that reason (ie having taken a recent assessment so not being able to retake any part of another).

Might give it a try.
I got to the very end of the recent TPE and I'm on "Hold".
Luckily I also have the mechanical pass also from a previous assessment for my current job with T&W Metro so I will give it a go.

Seems to be a lot of Pic drivers on here! I wonder who you are? Newbies do sign Crewe n Stoke, you sign what's in your link!

So does that mean that anyone who took the TRP1 and 2, GBT and passed but are on hold can't take any other tests for six months ???

Northern allow people who have part test passes to take the test they are missing. Mark the assessments passed box and add a note.
You only have to wait 6 months for parts you've failed!

Then there are a couple of posters on here who have a very legitimate grievance with their experiences last year.

Both had taken (and passed) assessment with TPE (so consequently no mech comp pass) and were told they would not be permitted to take just the mech comp part that they lacked. If that has now changed, then it's a welcome improvement to their recruitment process.
