I appear to have a problem with this facility that appeared when I logged on an hour ago. Does any other website member use the same Premium version and also has had problems this evening?

Have only used the free versions, but found they were liable to clash with other software at times, especially other anti-virus software or "system utilities".

Had to completely uninstall Malwarebytes (the full, paid for, version) yesterday. Had a conflict (possibly with Windows Defender) which caused my machine to crash (twice).

Now working very happily again.

I have had similar issues as mentioned elsewhere on this forum. Conflicts do seem to happen. Had a man out but it is still happening.

It looks like there has been a problem with a Malwarebytes update which I have just discovered whilst browsing an IT forum which I use in the office

The morning of 2018-01-27, an update to Malwarebytes product definitions cause problems with systems.

On the Spiceworks forum, there are various links to the cause of the fault and a resolution

This program being for 3PC's use is on both my new HP Pavilion desktop and my wife's Toshiba laptop. I uninstalled then reinstalled the program on the HP Pavilion machine then left it overnight and used my wife's Toshiba laptop, which was not affected, to carry out any computer work on Sunday evening.

This morning, everything seems fine on the HP Pavilion machine and it is on this that I am using at present.

Yes I was effected by this I only realised when Windows 10 began shutting programs down to try and free up more RAM. Once I realised what was happening it was certainly fun watching the Malwarebytes process slowly but surely eat up more and more and more RAM. It was even more entertaining when even when killed via Task Manager it would eventually restart it self and begin to eat RAM again! Eventually I just uninstalled and waited for them to fix it.

They fixed it pretty promptly to be fair within a couple of hours of the issue emerging on Saturday afternoon. Just make sure that Malwarebytes is fully updated (i.e. manually tell it to update) on any machine which has it installed and everything should be fine.

I suspect this is by design - some processes even when killed will restart themselves. I don't know the specifics of Malwarebytes as I don't use it myself, but it is likely that you'd have needed to disable the service

Yes and I suppose for something that's supposed to be about security it makes sense for it to start itself back up again from time to time. I could have disabled it but I decided just to uninstall it as being quicker and simpler than wading through menus I have little to no reason to use normally!

Oh absolutely - I thought I would post accordingly for completeness anyway - I've had my fair share of fun and games with processes and services!
