Report from The Mirror giving some eyewitness testimony of events as the train pulled into Huntingdon Station from the North:
Huntingdon train stabbings: Multiple people knifed on train with passengers 'hiding in toilets'
22:33 Matt Atherton
Witnesses described seeing a man with a large knife, and passengers hiding in the toilets to escape the rampage.

One witness told The Times there was "blood everywhere" and people were getting "stamped" on by others as they tried to flee.

"I heard some people shouting we love [you]," the witness said.

BBC Posting video of the scene
BBC Verify has authenticated a video of the aftermath of the stabbing incident near Huntingdon.

The video, filmed on a bridge on Brampton Road overlooking Huntingdon's railway station, shows a stationary train while a number of police officers run down the platform.
Video reported from [Brampton] road, which would put the train on platform 2, on the up line, looking at Google Maps and station map.

It would be good if they could report accurately what information they have. I've just seen a Sky News reporter say that services to the station originate from St Pancras and Euston, not one mention of King's Cross.
A BBC News one has just described Huntingdon as being “near York”

Most of these comments are from the London reporter they're talking to, who now claimed the passenger alarm as being pulled "not long after the train set off"
Being a Saturday night the London reporter is probably quite junior (no disrespect intended) and quite possibly has much less knowledge of railways than the average commuter ?

BBC's live coverage on the TV has had these inaccuracies:
Just said it was from King's Cross heading north - wrong direction!
"major disruption from Peterborough to Stevenage where the train travelled from south to north" - First bit is correct, but Stevenage is south of Peterborough
Described Huntingdon as a market town in the East near York - it's miles from York!
Now they've said the train was heading from Newcastle to London.

Such basic facts they've got wrong, some of which are basic geography. It's no wonder people panic and worry with such conflicting information
It’s always worrying, when the media get stuff wrong on subjects that you know about, how much are they getting wrong on subjects you don’t know about, but don’t realise.

It seems they are just plucking place names out of the air, where did ‘Newcastle’ come from for example.

Sure, but that statement appears to be nothing but pure speculation. She's now repeated the statement that it "wasn't far into its journey", seemingly under the belief the train started at Peterborough

This was the top story on the 10pm news on BBC1, though with minimal details.
I’ve been trying to access News at Ten on iPlayer, but oddly it’s only showing last night’s, there is however LIVE coverage available now on BBC News’ website.

Edit: Oh hang on it’s Saturday isn’t it, so it’d be Weekend News.

Yes it has been taken from Brampton Road Bridge. Hitchingbrooke hospital is a bit further down the road, which might be a godsend depending on what the injuries are.
*Hinchingbrooke Hospital is just up the road - adjacent to the former A14 dual carriageway - and does indeed have an A&E facility. Some victims have been airlifted to Addenbrookes in Cambridge.

Some of the "experts" that Sky News are rolling out have the train coming from Newcastle, going to Newcastle, coming from King's Cross, not least the whole confusion between Huntingdon / Huntington.

Most importantly, however, thoughts should remain with everyone caught up in this evening's attack, including the emergency response and LNER as a company.

Michael Crichton coined this as Gell-Mann Amnesia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gell-Mann_amnesia_effect
The Gell-Mann amnesia effect is a cognitive bias describing the tendency of individuals to critically assess media reports in a domain they are knowledgeable about, yet continue to trust reporting in other areas despite recognizing similar potential inaccuracies.
Thoughts with those affected, who were just going about their evening as we all do.

This is known as Knoll’s law of media accuracy: “everything you read in the newspapers is absolutely true, except for the rare story of which you happen to have firsthand knowledge”.

Also the Cambridgeshire police HQ, although Cambridge and Adenbrooks is quite close as far as MTC provision goes if it had been somewhere like Tamworth or Kettering it would be alot more complicated for the victims. Although it's still a complicated situation.

That's understandable, as Addenbrookes is the major trauma centre for East Anglia. Plus the Magpas air ambulance is stationed nearby (ex RAF Wyton unless they have recently moved).

I do know that, as I used to visit a friend who lived in the area.

For anyone reading this thread concerned or unsure and therefore wanting factual information, the LNER train involved was travelling south from Doncaster, had just departed from Peterborough at 19:30 and the destination was London Kings Cross.

My thoughts go out to everyone who was involved in or witnessed this absolutely appalling and horrific incident. I'm absolutely shocked and saddened by it. Grateful to all the emergency services involved. Also very grateful to any railway staff involved (signaller/driver/guard) who must have had to react very quickly to get the train off the fast line, onto the slow line and then platformed at Huntingdon.

How horrible. I'm praying for the victims, witnesses, emergency services, and the signaller and traincrew. It sounds like the situation was handled in exemplary fashion by the operational staff - the media may choose to focus on the perpetrators, but the best of humanity has also been on display this evening.

Praying that all those injured make a full recovery - utterly, utterly harrowing to think of one's journey ending in this fashion.

I take it there's no capacity to operate the TL service to Horsham from London Bridge tomorrow?
