Major disruption at London Bridge.

Signalling equipment on the Brighton side has been vandalised.

Many Southern services cancelled or diverted to Victoria. Thameslink running via Elephant for tube connection to London Bridge.

There's a tree on the line at Nutfield (between Redhill and Tonbridge) as well which isn't helping matters.

Cable theft again, caused significant disruption

Hasnt been the best of days for Southern, was also a cable theft at Littlehampton, though that was sorted by Midday. Apparently 30ft of cable was stolen in the South Bermondey area, so thats whats causing the London Bridge problems. There was also -

-Obstructions on the line at Coulsdon Town, Hove, Netley and as the OP said at Nutfield
-Signal fault at West Croydon
-Over-running work at Selhurst

Presumably the weather was the cause of the obstructions on the lines.

It was mayhem this morning with,
-A person hit by a train at Euston (VT & LM delayed, LO were suspended out of Euston, then running with delays)
-A person under a train at Aston-under-Lyne
-Electrical supply problems near Lancaster
-A tree on the line between Preston and Carslie
-A tree on the line south of London
-Vandalism at Clapham Junction

May have made some mistakes or missed some off, but I'm back at school now :cry::cry::cry:

What is the point of stealing 30 ft of signalling cable? I've just looked up the scrap metal price for insulated copper cable and its shown as £1300 per tonne. I have no idea what the stolen length was worth but I wouldn't have thought it was worth more than £100, unless it was ultra thick. Surely there must be easier ways of making a hundred quid without running the risk of getting caught/electrocuted.

Depends on how much you need the money I guess. If 30ft of cable puts food on the table for a few days then somebody is always going to have the motivation to nick it.

Not so much food on table , but feeding drug and alcohol problems (viz the New X Gate incident recently) - sheer opportunist and low level , but with high impact crime.
