1E17 1330 Edinburgh to Kings Cross has terminated at Newcastle and will no longer stop at Darlington, York and London Kings Cross

All lines remain blocked north of Chester-le-Street due to a tree falling onto the overhead power lines

The 18:19 London Kings Cross to Newcastle will be cancelled due to the ongoing disruption

The 18:30 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh will make an additional stop at Northallerton

A tree blocking the line between Durham and Newcastle is causing disruption to journeys between these stations. This is expected to continue until 17:00.
Services may be cancelled, altered or delayed by up to 45 minutes.
Advice for TransPennine Express Customers:
You may use Virgin Trains East Coast and CrossCountry on reasonable routes.
Check before you travel:
Please use the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner to check your journey before you travel.

Darlington is virtually full now

P1 and P4 have 2 services waiting to head north
P2 has a CrossCountry service from Southampton Central which has terminated
P3 has a TPE service and Northern

This now only leaves 4a for either a northern similar length to get in services to/from Bishop Auckland will not be able to run if they want to call at Darlington until one of the VTEC or XC services can leave from 1 or 4

The southbound line has now opened services will be running on this line only in both directions whilst network rail work to remove the tree and asses and damage it may have caused

what a disaster after yesterday and various incident recently. I am now convinced the ECML franchise is cursed.

i hope those that deferred travel until today made it through and aren't caught up again

Am I not the only one who expected to see "Tree" being shown on that signalling diagram?

Not the best of weeks for the ECML

Knowing how windy it is today I'm wondering how long it will be before we get reports of the wires coming down. Probably somewhere near Retford or Newark.

Due to a large plastic bag getting caught on the OHL some services between Durham and Newcastle will be delayed

I'm on the 17:59 NCL to KGX, which hasn't left NCL yet. The train manager has just announced on the PA that we are delayed due to a plastic bag on the OHLE to the south of the station.

Edit: beat me to it.

Next week on "ECML - You Couldn't Make It Up!"...

Edit again: under way at 18:30.

Still residual delays far from the source. The wind has been wild all day today, surprised there hasn't been more disruption to be honest.
