I am planning another mainline route from London to Stevenage Stevenage to Birmingham via Northampton Bimingham to crewe Crewe to Manchester. Its a seperate mainline called the London, Birmingham and Manchester Mainline or the LBMM. Its based its year of operation is summer 1982 and it is operated by the London Midland Region also it hasnt been electrified. What kind of trains would run on it.

How do you get from Stevenage on the ECML to Northampton on the WCML?

If the route is being developed hypothetically, you could go via Ely-March-Nene Valley to Northampton and on from there. As for traction, local stoppers by class 101DMU, semi-fast class 31s, express 45, 47 or 50s would do these. Not sure what diverted services you could put in, may be Midland Mainline traffic?

Please don't drag up old threads unless you have something useful to add.
