Mainline driver application successful!

Hi all,

Am a long time lurker and have finally signed up, mainly to show my gratitude to everyone on this fantastic forum for all the useful tips and opinions I've picked up over the last few months, on my journey through all the hoops that make up the application process!
I've just heard that, medical results pending, I should be a trainee driver with SWT within a few weeks. It's taken about 3.5 years and am really pleased/flattered to be in this position as I am aware that the rejection rate is pretty high.
Just wondered if anyone is able to give me a rough idea of what to expect as far as the training goes? Is the initial 3 months all class room based? Am I right in thinking that I'd be looking at around 12-14 months before I can expect to be qualified? Anything else you think may be useful will be greatly received!!

Sorry for the lengthy post, am just rather excited and itching to get going!!

Hey, as long as the med goes as to plan, then well done buddy, it is hard work of course it is, lots of tests, lots of reading, revising and, oh did I mention, tests, lol, dont worry it is a long process depending on which depot you are at it could be longer than others, but it is not and never does not feel like a hassle, its good fun, serious, relaxed and you will be well looked after by the guys at SWT, from the trainers to the drivers, good bunch all round.

Only kidding, well done fella, SWT is a brilliant employer and as long as you are honest they will always back you up.

I wont ask which depot but whether its a big or a small one they all have their 'characters' and you will be welcomed with open arms, just don't take the banter to heart, if it annoys you tell them to fu um go away.

Enjoy the course, it is hard work but the end result is worth it.

I'm the same!

I start my Southeastern trainee train driver course on december the 7th pending on a successful medical! I'm chomping at the bit to start but been waiting for my medical date for over 10 days now so just waiting........
