Mainline class 25 return

Ok there is a chance this may be speculation but I have heard that there is a group of WCRC employe's that are working on a class 25 to bring it to mainline standard's.

So is there anyone that can give me and us some information so this can sound more offcial???

25309 (AKA D7659/25909) is being returned to mainline standards at Carnforth. It is on a five year loan from the Waterman Railways Heritage Trust.

As you appear to be in the know, is it Waterman funded or the WCRC boys putting in the free hours aswell as parts etc - Watermans had a change of heart if he is putting much into it!

It's on a 5 year loan from Waterman and due to be returned to the WRHT in working order at the end of it - sorry, I'm afraid I don't know who is funding its return, but I believe the WCRC guys who are fixing it are doing so in their own time.

Pete Waterman is funding it himself as far as I know. Dan Monkman is the man in charge of its restoration. He told me that he aims to have it out on the mainline at least 5 times a year!:grin::grin::grin::grin:

Coincidentally, I've just noticed this posting by 'Insect' on wnxx which was made yesterday and should answer things:

One small point it's not 'that WCRC Rat', it's a project being soley funded by a WCRC employee (16svt) and being worked on by the diesel department (mainly 16svt) in their own time.

Would be so great to seet that loco again.I saw it at Temple Mills almost 30 years ago.Think it was a CW (Cricklewood) machine.Would like seeing an old friend again.:razz:

I see it as good and bad. I know it suits the 33's, Spoons, and Tractors, but The livery does get very dirty, and if it's on hire, Waterman wouldn't like to see whats happened to his Rat!!!

Well thats what we used to call Ice cream van livery up here/down here(it's a midland thing)??

As in Network Southeast.

BR Blue, two tone green or at a push Tamworth castle style in Large logo style blue, but without the large logo.........or large numbers.:grin:

It's the only right colours for a rat!
