I was just wondering if anyone had any idea why the above all seem to shut down Saturday Lunchtime till Monday Morning.

The showrooms are often open all weekend and outlets like Kwik-Fit etc open all weekend.

How is it in the 21st Century with the advent of 24/7 and Sunday Trading they still seem to be stuck in the seventies.

I'm suprised this has never been raised as a customer service issue.

You could argue they are open five and a half days which is adequate however the same maxim could be applied to retailers.

I bought a Renault because it was only dealership open on a Sunday round here! Only had Sundays free only dealer open was the joint Renault/ seat/ Suzuki dealership. I needed something like a scenic style, so Renault was my only choice!

You mean the workshop is open on a Sunday or just the sales department?

Yeah I know. Hence my first reply with regards to the fleecing of the public !!

Are you suggesting they make that much over 5 and 1/2 days Sunday is their day of rest to count all the money "us suckers" have parted with ? :p

Yes they do! I recently had a bit of a problem with my car, and the dealership just around the corner from me wanted £750 (plus VAT) just to look and find out what the problem was. Took my car for a second opinion at a small dealership/garage about 500 yards down the rad, the mechanic listened to the car for a minute and told me the ignition coil had failed. Cost to replace (including hourly rate and VAT) .... £145

Just the dealership, but of all the dealers in my area they are the only one open on a Sunday, no hope of their workshops being open!

Really can't see the workshops opening much longer hours than they do already to be honest - don't think I know of any that are open more on a weekend than Saturday mornings

Well I sure hope Citroen Coventry is open this Sunday as I am picking up my new car then !!

No more girly car then? :P

We've found a similar case - a lot of the time one can't beat going to an independant garage

That is my point precisely regarding workshop opening hours - the same could have been said about a lot of businesses in the past.

As I mentioned Kwik Fit etc are open all hours :p

And you'll still get your pants pulled down by Kwik-fit too!

When I worked in a dealer (Mercedes) we opened at 5:30am and closed at 10:30pm (and closed Sat afternoon and Sunday) - albeit with a mobile mechanics on call 24/7

Some of the busier dealerships up country were open 24/7....

Really - I've never heard of a 24 hour workshop - could you take your car in for a service in the middle of the night ?

We didn't touch cars. I worked for MB Commercial so Trucks and Vans mostly with the occasional Bus (Solos in Exeter, Citaros at the satellite workshop in Plymouth), coach and exotic industrial engines (ie RNLI tractors, Combine Harvesters or Generators) Most regular work was done in the evening out of hours. Saturday Morning was truck inspections done while the owner drivers waited.

You couldn't just turn up, you had to book in though as the office was 7am - 7pm (unless a recovery job where you'd be squeezed in if from out of the area or attended next day if a local vehicle)

They look awesome. What colours have you gone for?

Black with a white roof and mirrors. I must say they are very nice inside. A real snug and classy feel to the interior.

Not the best pic but you get the idea
