As mentioned before I promised to do a trip report about my Mail Rail tunnel tour, which occurred on the same day as the tube strike which caused a massive disruption in the city, traffic is totally gridlocked and all the buses were full, I couldn't get on any number 74 bus , even after walking to Hyde Park corner my number 19 bus never turned up at all I waited 25 minutes so decided to walk to the Mail Rail place it took a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes from Earls Court, to be fair it was a lot quicker than the traffic.
Finally arrived, one of the staff told me she took 3 hours to get to work.
The tour itself proved very interesting, saw the side tunnels and platforms, the shaft where the sacks come down, train "graveyard", old tracks with third rail still on them....
Very interesting tour, I've ridden on the train twice before, this is the first time to see the works behind it, this is only a fraction of the entire tunnel network which is just over 6 miles in length.
