Hi
Can anyone advise me what the average payment per photograph sent to a Railway Magazine is?
I sent in a few images a while ago and completely forgot about it now they have sent me an email asking for account sort code and account number.
I assume this is completely safe as Sort Code and Account number can only be used to transfer money into that account.
I have never had an image published before so am unsure how much to expect, just curious.
Many thanks

It varies from mag to mag and the size of the picture. I think some only pay around £10, others £20/25, probably more for a front cover or centre spread. Provide them with your details and you'll find out! :P

A lot of magazines are flat £15 payment

RAIL are easiest to deal with (they pay automatically with no invoice required) and they pay depending on the size of the image from £15 upwards, most I've had for one shot is £30, but that was a double page spread.

I always buy the magazine if I get in, so it ends up wiping out some of the earnings!

I'd be inclined to submit more pictures to magazines if the deal included a complimentary copy of the magazine. £15 or so for a picture is all very well, but when you have to spend the best part of a fiver to see that picture in print, it kind of takes the polish off it.
