What?

We had a single Omnilink, which was used on the X48 during the peak, and the Airlinks currently use a fleet of Omnicitys (Which I'm looking forward to seeing on the 35 :D)

Apparently after the change, you may still see an omnicity on the 100, as 2 of them are being kept in case of anything going wrong with the Gemini 2s.

You had a omnicity bendy-bus, and I saw a couple of photos of it on the X48

Sorry it is an articulated omnicity because the first company to convert OmniLinks to right hand drive was actually Nottingham City Transport in 2006 which was also the first company to convert omnicitys

It's an Omnilink, it was the first RHD one in the country and a 54 plate because it was a Scania demonstrator, which ended up with Lothian, and is why we only had the one.

Its an Omnicity - Omnilinks have a different engine arrangement (including shower cubicle which you can see the grill for), are taller and have only ever appeared in the UK with the facelifted lights)

There was a phase where Omnilink was confused with Aritic Omnicity but its def a city!

Hmm, I've always been told that it's an omnilink, but looking closer at the details, it does appear to be an omnicity.

I should say "not including shower cubicle"

But pretty much - cubicle and flat floor to rear = Omnicity - No cubicle and steeped up rear half = Omnilink

The 'link is designed as an interurban bus so has a coach like drivetrain - in the UK we use this set up for everything from darts/solos - the European city bus with flat floor with offset drive & transverse/vertical engine never caught on

I think a trip on the 35 is going to be required when the Scanias move onto it.
Here's hoping they keep the current seating :D (I have my doubts though).

A second B7TL has been painted. No idea which 1, but again, like 720, wasn't painted by Lothian. This one was at Stagecoach Fife, Aberhill depot, for new colours. Stagecoach Fife have painted buses before for Lothian.

Apparently 725 in the new madder livery will be out on the 23 on tuesday (30/03).

Yes, the airlinks are in service tomorrow, although they've been out already last week.

Apparently one Scania (985) is being kept as the Airlink mud bus. I've heard that 720, 725 and 101 will be out from Tuesday.

I'd been told they're keeping two of them for that not one, but I'll ask about that.

Either would fit in I suppose - there are, IIRC, 15 Airlinks, so 2 being kept as mud buses leaves 13 to be used on 35s - I think the 35 normally needs 12 buses with at least one rush bus.

Took a trip on the new Airlinks today - bloody hell, they're whizzy!

I'm not a fan of them, and now having seen it, I don't really like the interior.
The other thing is the build quality of them; I travel to and from work usually either on a Gemini or a Gemini 2 (Unless I'm lucky and get a President :D), and I spend most of my journey with my legs rammed up against the panels at the front to stop them rattling. Some of them are already as bad as the Olympians were a couple of years back!
Apparently they're having problems with them because of all the various ECUs they have.

I don't mind the Geminis - the early Presidents are absolutely dire (by Lothian standards anyway) but the ones from 52 plate are pretty decent.

They're back!!

Donald Stirling has been quick off the mark with this collection taken in Central garage.

I like the new livery my only minor gripes with it are the new logo/web address and the thick gold stripe but on the whole its a welcome return to Edinburghs streets of a proper bus livery.

Well, in recent weeks there's been a few updates, with new branding and more buses repainted:

The 3 is no longer just 3 Connect, but now branded The Lady Victoria;

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cuthbus/5102211553/

The 49 has been branded The Queen of Scots;

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cuthbus/5012574058/

A low emission Pointer 2 has been branded as an eco bus. Some of them are getting a new exhaust system to bring them up to Euro V emissions standards IIRC;

http://www.flickr.com/photos/cuthbus/5011935563/

Today is also the last day of the Olympians on the Majestic Tour, being replaced with Presidents;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/steveneh8/5096741693/

There's a President in the new livery, 649 is currently the only one;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/steveneh8/4740052310/

There are also 3 Pointer 2s that have been repainted;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cuthbus/5102793578/

As well as 3 Urban 2s:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/steveneh8/5099627687/

And finally the Scanias have been repainted and I believe that some of them are in service on the 35;
http://www.flickr.com/photos/stuart_montgomery/5092302177/

The current list of repainted buses are;
Wright Eclipse Urban: 101-138, 151-158
Wright Eclipse Urban 2: 167-169
Wright Eclipse Gemini: 701-704, 720, 751-765
Plaxton President: 649
Plaxton Pointer 2: 54, 185, 189
(Correct as of the 24th)

Personally, I think the branding on the 3 and 49 is crap. It just looks tacky and ruins the livery.
