Lumo working Hull Trains service

This may of occurred previously, but this is something I’ve never seen, a Lumo class 803 working a Hull Trains Service.


Currently working 1A11 Doncaster to Kings Cross (line closed at Brough).

I guess it was going to happen at one point or another. Although Lumo and Hull Trains are separate Train Operating Companies (TOCs), they're not only both FirstGroup TOCs, but also one business unit (open-access, managed by Martijn Gilbert) within First Rail.

It will also be interesting to see what happens when the extra AT300 units come to First Rail open-access, as in, which ones will be in Hull Trains livery / Lumo livery / even a "shared" livery.

Who was staffing the service? Was it a Hull Trains driver and Hull Trains guard? Or a Lumo driver and Lumo onboard hosts running DOO as per their other services? I am not sure if the 802s and 803s are similar enough that staff who sign one automatically sign the other?

I would imagine HT Staff, otherwise Lumo would be passing staff down to Doncaster.

Will they be bi-mode units? If not then it would have to be lumo. In any case, hull trains has a successful first class so I can’t see it sharing trains with Lumo often, as they do not have first class accommodation.

First’s announcement for the order said they’ll be a mix of electric, bimode, and battery electric. So anything is still possible.

I think Hull trains have taken Lumo passengers before, when there was a diversion south of Doncaster

Ah, ok. I don’t think hull trains really needs any other trains so I’d still assume they will stay with lumo, maybe for other routes. Anyway, I doubt locals would be happy with the removal of ‘our’ own operator.

This service was probably because hull station was closed today while some maintenance work (I believe) was going on.

Hull Trains would need a couple of new units if it is granted paths for its Sheffield to Kings Cross services.

Had it confirmed from friend who was travelling, it was staffed by Hull Trains crew.
