Lumo (West Coast) - passenger experiences

This is an interesting one too. I was under the impression that the buffet bar was permanently closed and it was trolley only (unfortunately not available on your service seemingly) so I'm wondering what's happened for them to even mention it's existence?

While a "blob" appears where it is on the seating plan, it's not labelled as anything.

I did 1S00 today, a lousy run following a heavily delayed Avanti from Euston.
222s look smart on the outside.
The staff were all lovely.
I was in coach B.
But no reservations system, 3/5 toilets locked out, and no AC in one coach.
There was a catering trolley.
MUCH cheaper booked at short notice.
Home with Avanti. I'm no Pendo' fan, but the refurbished 390 was a superior experience today.

Lumo passengers travelling today on their 1M02 12:22 Stirling to London Euston won't be happy. Live Departure Boards estimating a 2 hour delay in departing Stirling. It's previous working was terminated at Motherwell due to a train fault.

Edit: Trust and Realtime Trains showing 1M02 as being cancelled. Ticket acceptance been agreed with Avanti.

I see Lumotravel on x formerly twitter have posted today that they cannot help passengers on west coast via that platform and advise people to telephone them

Took the Lumo from Stirling to Carlisle this morning. My seat was in coach B and featured the new seats. The screens not showing the seat reservations seems to cause a fair bit of confusion as some passengers think the reservations dont apply but the gaurd asks everyone to sit in their allocated seat. With Lumo there is very limited non reservable seating, so you can't easily move without the fear of being in someones seat.

Motherwell was the stop with most passengers joining and the staff were very friendly. The trolley comes out after Motherwell, once the ticket checks have been completed.

I have not used the service northbound and completed the full route.

It's not great at the moment. Monday was a mess due but not due to Lumo, however...

1M01 got as far as Preston before being cancelled for the same reason
1M02 ran 2 hours late throughout
1S00 cancelled
1S02 cancelled
1P04 97 late arriving

Today's Lumo 06:41 Preston to London Euston took nearly half an hour to get from Preston to Wigan. Operational Incident I believe. (On Trust the delay has gone down as "Driver.")

Well, yes, but it's all a bit weird that one. It was delayed at Motherwell for an hour because of the failure of 4M27, but then left, and got as far as Abington where it was turned round and sent back to Motherwell, and then empties to Polmadie. If it had remained at Abington another 45 minutes it would have been able to continue...

Why do I sometimes see a flashing BIL (not from the active cab) but mid-train when it’s DOO? I can’t understand why the ambassadors would have their key in the panel?

Lumo stewards work similarly to Southern OBSs, they put the key in to prevent departure and remove it once ready to go.

Just wanted to say how impressed I was with a recent trip last week from Motherwell to Milton Keynes on this service. Very comfy seats , regular trolly service and staff on hand throughout the journey. It wasn’t that cheap, as i travelled at short notice and i returned on Avanti - which was 25 minutes late.

There was also a good crowd of passengers in my carriage and we all started chatting.

They are PTS trained so they have to do platform duties on stations. Being keyed in makes sure the train doesn’t leave the ambassador behind as the driver can’t close all doors

They're currently running the 19:19 London-Preston with no working toilets at all. From reading elsewhere, the Southbound service also had no working facilities from at least Preston onwards. Totally unacceptable that an Intercity train was allowed to leave London in such a state.

Certainly gives Motherwell more services down the WCML. The fares on the WCML are pretty expensive now.

No hard and fast rule against it, of course; but despite the quite major disruption on Monday, there were 3 or more Avanti trains serving all of those destinations after 1P04 should have left. I presume Lumo were unable to arrange ticket acceptance in the short time that the unit was at Euston, but that's still no excuse.

The "shop" is in the luggage area between the passenger seats and the driver's cab in coach G. The lady just served through the open door. The buffet bar remains closed.

Today I used the 9.50 Lumo service from Carlisle to Stirling. It was not busy; only 3 others in my coach (G)

Apart from 3 toilets being out of use, it was a pleasant journey. The trolley appeared after Lockerbie; the onboard staff were very good.

On a different note, it was good to see that there is a new sign at Quintinshill.
