Advice for the part cancellation above is as follows:

Unfortunately we have been unable to secure ticket acceptance with other operators at this time, please purchase a new ticket to travel between your origin station and Carlisle, and we will refund you the difference.
We can advise travelling on the following:
16:26 Stirling to Glasgow Queen Street, this service calls at Larbert at 16:34 & then connect onto the 17:30 service from Glasgow Central to Carlisle.
16:19 Greenfaulds to Motherwell, this service calls at Whifflet at 16:29 & then connect onto the 17:26 service from Motherwell to Carlisle.
18:24 Lockerbie to Carlisle.

I have known them to organise acceptance - but I suspect that Avanti may have refused today due to also being in a state of flux with the disruption in the Preston area.

I've witnessed LNER, Avanti and Lumo East Coast acceptance before - it very much depends on the day and the situation. A very busy Sunday afternoon will return different results compared to midweek.

More issues today

1M00 got as far as Abingdon before being turned back because of the failure of 4M27. It was originally cancelled but reinstated.
1S00 is cancelled due to an issue with the train crew

I do like Lumo's somewhat confused website wording, though. All these things are/were true, but not necessarily at the same time and I'm pretty sure your average passenger doesn't know/care what 5M00 is!

LUMO issues 1M00

06:05 Stirling to London Euston due 11:57 has been reinstated.
It will be terminated at Motherwell.
It will no longer call at Lockerbie, Carlisle, Preston, Milton Keynes Central and London Euston.
It is being delayed at Stirling.
This is due to a broken down train.
Additional Information:
Due to the failed freight train at Abington, the service will be turned back to Motherwell, where all he passengers will alight. 5M00 will run Motherwell - Polmadie,
