Is there any 222 runs they will be doing through Preston next week, Id completely not realised they were testing already and it would be nice to see one while im up there
Don't know about next week, but unless it is cancelled, these should run tomorrow:(14 January)

Ran on 12 January with 222.005 (East Midlands livery)

I could well be reading things incorrectly, but after fumbling around on RTT to try to get a look at the future timetable, I note that it appears my usual journey (CAR to EUS and return) using Lumo will take anywhere from 3hrs 41mins to 3hrs 55mins.

This is in comparison to 3hrs 25mins on Avanti.

Can anyone explain why it would be slower than my current Avanti service , given that it is only 2 stops between CAR and EUS, instead of the 5 on Avanti.

Also... Is the any way to read simplified versions of the May onwards Lumo timetables please?

Pathing. Avanti have prime paths, based on long term historic timetable developments. LUMO's paths have to fit in with the existing rights that the various passenger and freight operators already have. I would expect that they will be subsequently refined over the course of the coming years.

Would it not also be that Lumo will have to run 110mph rather than 125 for a fair bit of the route due to having non-tilt units? The Avanti 80x are a bit slower on the Liverpools than the Pendolinos were for similar reasons.

Can we confine discussion in this thread to the Lumo Stirling-Euston service please.

I've moved the posts about a possible Lumo Blackpool service to this thread:

The possible Blackpool workings are just 'short workings' of the Stirling service, not something separate, although it does seem speculative for the moment.

Motherwell gets every other service stopping these days when I looked as research. Not awful by any means.

Motherwell-Stirling is hardly a big pair. It has 1000 one way trips a year at the moment.

Agree this is a big weakness of the current service.
It certainly is, although I got criticized for suggesting MK needed more Glasgow calls

Preston supposed to have the most drivers taken on so will be some lodge diagrams I would suspect
Even without lodging the timetable suggests Preston will need to be the larger depot. Presumably they'll want to minimise lodging (otherwise why bother spending the money setting up 3 separate depots) but I guess it might be cheaper to have spare coverage at Preston, lodging as required, than having extra drivers at either end able to cover fewer jobs.

I'm very curious as to how the Stirling depot diagrams in particular will work. It looks like they'll need to do a fair bit of passing too and from Preston - but also a very high percentage of nights compared to most TOCs?
