At some stations the comparison would be yelling at someone and stopping a train from leaving cause someone was leaning against the wall to take their photo. A forum post doesn’t really explain the situation that well but it was the best I could describe it.

They certainly will if the person who was shouted at puts a complaint in about it, which if I were in their shoes I absolutely would be making a complaint.
I won’t be making a complaint myself, as annoying as it was to witness such an incident it’s really not the end of the world, but I wanted to make the post here to explain why the train was delayed.

Exactly! They will have a justified reason for their actions. The opinions of people on a forum definitely will not be taken into account as safety is paramount!
The delay at Morpeth is because of the rude, unprofessional member of Lumo staff on the platform getting the train to make an emergency stop because someone was taking a photograph
If it isn't full to 100% I imagine you could try sitting in a different seat after departure. It seems possible that there will be "no shows" given the cheapness of the fares on offer and today's experience. (Currently travelling from Newcastle to Edinburgh sat at a table showing reserved from Kings Cross to Edinburgh with no one else using it.)
The second northbound service left Morpeth a few minutes late. The delay at Morpeth is because of the rude, unprofessional member of Lumo staff on the platform getting the train to make an emergency stop because someone was taking a photograph, despite the person being behind the yellow line, then proceeding to yell at that person. In fact that person wasn’t just behind the yellow line, they were at least a couple of feet away from the yellow line! Whilst I get the legitimate concerns about standing too close to trains, that person was not in any position they shouldn’t have been in, nor were they in a position where anyone was put in danger. It’s a real shame as before that I had nothing but positive things to say about Lumo.

Interesting, as I observed very clearly what happened. Given I was also taking my own photographs I was paying very careful attention to the staff to ensure I didn’t receive the same treatment.
That said it doesn’t surprise me if there was *also* an electrical issue, given the unit did seem very sluggish out of Newcastle, and the WiFi was also not working.
In which case I would assume that they only had to give one reason for the delay, and chose the one that would give them less paperwork (or whatever the term for it is these days) to fill out.
Personally I really enjoyed my journey. Very friendly service on my train, with prompt deliveries on pre-order food.
Reckon they will struggle with luggage space, as I am pretty sure there are only five luggage stacks on the entire train (plenty seen in the doorways though).
Seats were comfortable, surprisingly so. Never thought I'd have a pleasant journey on an 800-alike (at least not without lots of alcohol lol).
Best way to do London-Edinburgh by day if you ask me.
I'm not copying and pasting the log item on a Web forum and neither should anyone else if they value their job. Is my interpretation for a non specialist audience not good enough for you, Judge Judy?
Suffice to say that as I've described it the fault in question will cause the train to come to a stand - whether Dan NCL saw what he thought he saw - as in did the train stop because of this fault, or because someone stopped it, is another matter.
It is my belief that the shouting and the train stopping were coincidental.
I agree. I only posted it to mention that not quite everything was fab with Lumo, and of course to explain the delay at Morpeth (at the time unaware of the separate traction issue that was as much if not more of a cause of the delay), I hadn’t intend to start a debate over it!

Now the traction issue is known I agree it’s coincidental. Of course the perspective from stood on the platform, you only see the shouting, so to anyone stood on the platform that appears to be what stopped the train.

Nor should anyone expect you to. Well said.

Your viewpoint is entirely reasonable - if someone is having a big hullabaloo and the train grinds to a halt it isn't unreasonable to assume the two events might be related By the wonder of the Internet and sharing your experience you now have the bigger picture.
The first northbound passenger service aboard the new low-cost rail link set off from London for Edinburgh three minutes late – and with three disappointed passengers left on platform 10 at King’s Cross station.
The problem appeared to involve the reservations system and seat allocations for Lumo, the UK’s newest train operator
A whopping 3 passengers left behind, although not immediately obvious how or why (without being able to see whole article) given there was seemingly spare space on board.

My guess without any further evidence is a few 'last minute runners' who reached the platform after the doors closed. Maybe people busy taking photos on a different platform who judged it 'just wrong'?
