Restriction Code: ME
LUMO STIRLING & CONNECTIONS
Outward Journey
Summary:
VALID ON LUMO STIRLING & CONNECTING SERVICES ONLY
A change of train is not permitted.
I've not seen this restriction before!

Does anyone know of any other tickets that are restricted in this way?

Given the route requires a connection, this is clearly a mistake!

it is in the section unpublished restrictions

UNPUBLISHED RESTRICTIONS
Note that this site is not an official rail industry information source; any listing of computer-readable records below does not constitute publication by the rail industry of time or train restrictions, and is not intended to be binding on passengers.
It is intended for use by computerised journey planners and online booking systems in order to approximately determine valid journeys with this ticket. Due to limitations of the computer-readable data schema, it does not necessarily reflect the binding restrictions faithfully. For example, these data can not be used to determine time restrictions when breaking and resuming a journey at an intermediate station.

Yes, I am aware it is an unpublished restriction, but all ticket issuing systems will need to adhere to this restriction, given that it's an Advance ticket type which requires an itinerary, and a compliant itinerary cannot be generated.

Yes, if a walk-up ticket had such a restriction, then a TIS that isn't in journey planning mode could issue such a ticket, and it would still be valid to change trains, on the basis you describe, but that isn't the case here.

Not surprisingly by doing some test bookings, it appears that whichever one FirstGroup use isn't applying that all allow them to be sold.

Logically a restriction that only allows a passenger to change in Preston would make some sense. Not being able to change at all clearly doesn't.

It's weird, because you can sort of imagine Lumo applying this to routes they fully serve? (Not sure what it would achieve that an operator and BOJ restriction wouldn't, though). That this is the one they've applied it to is bizarre.

There are a few other restriction codes like this, such as XZ, (used for off peak tickets between Dorridge and Bristol, amongst others). nre.co.uk seems to ignore the field, so people should be able to buy Lumo's tickets easily enough.
