IMG_8202.jpegWent for a trip up to Crewe Last month despite the grand national also occurring that day it was a hit and miss for traffic but I largely wasn’t impacted. Anyway on the approach to Crewe passing Basford hall was a Freightliners 47830 (D1645) ‘Beechings legacy’ stabled. There were plenty of others in the yard as well including a few 90s a handful of 66s and a couple 70s (other images below this message)

Thanks for posting these. The Didcot video takes me back; I lived in Bicester 1991-93 (before Bicester Village existed):

I'd take a Bicester Town to Didcot service, before that station closed and when the line to Oxford was single track. All sorts of 1st gen DMU on that: 101, 104, 108, 117, 119, 121.

Didcot stabling lines next to the station, on my visits, would be filled with 37s and 47s. And always an 08 or 09 pottering about.

Bicester Central Ordnance Depot was still open and received regular trains of coal and munitions/supplies in 4-wheel coal hoppers and vans, latterly in container wagons. 37s and 47s were usual motive power on those.

Didcot Power Station was in full use; I'd watch processions of 56s, 58s and 60s on the MGRs.

Calvert-Avonmouth "binliner" (domestic waste containers) used Didcot's west curve and in the hands of a 47, 56 or 58.

56s and 59/1s also led the (now ceased) Whatley-Wolverton ARC 4-wheel hoppers, down the old Oxford to Bletchley line. Amazing to think it's now double track and East-West-Rail's services in 2025.

56s sometimes paired up on Redland's self-discharge hopper workings.
.
Not a single overhead wire or Shed!

In this video, you'll see the light loco and the eventual railtour with a few passenger services in between :)

The Second video which was released yesterday is the 2nd part of the trip to Crewe this one was rather interesting, to say the least. As I say that its all the usual including the Belmond and another movement from GBRF but DC Rail 60055 also makes an appearance which is my last DC Rail 60 I needed so nice surprise there!

Anyway, Enjoy! :)

There is a lot to see in this one and plenty of photos taken whilst on the trip.
All and All fantastic!

As always though Enjoy :)

Oh god it seems I have been dead quite a well! Apologies busy you know! Anyway after the Kings Sutton was the chesterfield video in which it was 2 short hours before making the long journey home. This was done after Barrow Hill having been into town for a few things! Little variety though.
anyway you will see services from:
EMR (222, 158)
XC (220, 221)
Northern (195)

As always though Enjoy! ;)

Next up after that came Maidenhead. Compared to my last visit in July the fencing is all now up and in place which has only been here since around September time of 2023. This completed practically every station between Reading and Paddington to have fencing for the fast lines!
Anyway you will see services from:
- GWR (800, 802, 165, 387)
- Elizabeth Line (345)
- Freight from: Freightliner and DC Rail (66 and 60)
- PLANES!!! Because it’s Heathrow.
of course there is a 60 in this one so yeah! Anyway Enjoy! ;)

- EMR (222, 360)
- Thameslink (700)
- Couple planes cause why not
and yeah… Enjoy though! ;)

And topping it all off after my long away break… Back to an old favourite: Class 390 ‘Pendolino’ considering the first batch did well how about a second with 50 more clips. Yeah that’s pretty nice! So non stop 390 action in this video from a range of locations!

Enjoy I guess! ;)

seemed like I had well and truly missed the Chiltern Mainline out the equation! Anyway.
Moving away from Kings Sutton this time puts us in the tiny village of Saunderton between Princes Risborough and High Wycombe. trains passing every 10 minutes essentially was it’s Timetable.

enough of that you will see services from:
Chiltern Railways (165, 168, 68+mk3)
freight from: GBRF & DCRail (60 & 66)

there was supposed to be another freight movement from DCRail that day but it didn’t make it onto the CML in the end… Anyway Enjoy! ;)
