Hi I am trying to book/research the best way to travel for my family.

According to GWR.com. It suggests that I can by a Zone 1 - 6 Off peak travel card for Tuesday 13/2/18 and it would be valid to travel on this train: 00:06 - 01:04 London Bridge to Caterham and STILL be valid the Tuesday. TFL seems to suggest otherwise. If I would a Travelcard for Zones 1-6 (Off Peak) for Tuesday 13th would my parents be able to get the 00:06 - 01:04?

Thanks

An off peak travelcard is valid from 09:30 until 04:30 the following day.

It cannot be used between 00:01 and 09:29 on the day of validity.

Neither the Travelcard not the Two Together Railcard will be valid for travel before 09:30 on 13th, unless they are dated for the previous day in which case they will not be valid for travel after 04:29 on 13th. Unfortunately, the Southern website has got it horribly wrong.

Indeed they did, but if it was an anytime travelcard and no time-limited railcard it would be valid as it is after midnight and anytimes are valid at any time on the day and up to 04:29 the next day (on and off except delays for trains but boarding for busses on travelcards I believe, using the principle from the daily cap on oyster).

Thanks. I would be tempted to argue this at the station because all I did was ask for a quote

That is your choice.

The forum cannot recommend this course of action.

I don't think there is much else that can be said as you have been given the correct answer. AIUI there is an issue with the electronic coding wrt the restrictions for a Travelcard, so validity has been incorrectly shown.

The correct course of action is to purchase a suitable Anytime Day Return / Day Travelcard as appropriate, with Two Together Railcard discount as appropriate. The latter not valid for travel between 0430 and 0930.

Hi I finally found why the mistake is happening on gwr.com and other websites

On the restrictions code for that ticket it clearly says not valid between 04:29 and 09:30. Hence the pc letting it through

Thanks for the help. I would have posted it on the previous thread but it’s locked

All I was proposing was to bring the mistake to the companies attention not to ride freely without paying. I am presuming the barriers wouldnt let me through....

The booking websites have not got it wrong; they are correctly interpreting the electronic data.

If you buy a ticket for the exact trains you wish to use, and travel on those trains, and have the accompanying itinerary on the booking confirmation email, you should not be charged extra. (If you are, then you should be refunded)

Now that the error (with the electronic restriction data) has been highlighted I am sure it will be fixed promptly.
