LU strikes cause postal issues?

Reading the description I saw:

I've heard excuses already that people couldn't work/ loss of wages due to previous Tube strike at my work as excuses for not paying their bills to my company

It might be a pretence ("official reason") rather than a real reason, but there are possible issues:

• Staff getting (or not) to work - at a warehouse level etc.
• Disruption to the road network due to additional traffic using the roads as an alternative method.

PS The more I think about it, another possibility is that they are covering themselves "just in case".

As widespread disruption and traffic chaos was caused in February when Tube workers took strike action for one day, similar effects are expected.

Tube strikes cause traffic chaos, traffic chaos delays parcel workers and the parcels themselves, parcels get late.

Agreed. Most distribution centres/warehouses are well away from any city centres these days, whether we are talking Royal Mail or some other delivery company, so I think it's very much a backside covering exercise!

There is also the probability that it can be used an excuse against their own failings!

Not so with Royal Mail. Mount Pleasant is slap bang in the centre of London. It isn't the only sorting office in central London either

Mount Pleasant is far less strategically important than it used to be. It is more or less a glorified delivery and collections office, with little processing function. Many of the other central London mail centres have closed.

Central London has little impact on the distribution of packets and parcels these days. Most of the hubs for such things are located outside London. There may well be small delays in negotiating the traffic in London where items are collected in the late afternoon and early evening, but this will not have a great impact on Royal Mail operations. It certianly won't lead to two or three day delays.

But I didnt see anything in that snippet that said it would be moved by RM. Theres plenty of delivery companies out there who may move the bulk at night but also deliver during the day and this could lead to more things going wrong with staff not getting in on time and so on and so forth.
