How's the training course going?
Brilliant mate. I'm half way through now. There's much more to driving a train than just pushing buttons lol.
What part of the process are you at?
That's good, I'm waiting for a course. Do you know what line/depot you'll be based?

Huh! You beat me to it. I was going to ask the same. OK so far thanks. I've worked out a little system for the open /close valves section. Now I'm working on increasing speed and accuracy on the concentration.
How about yourself? When is your AC1?

There's enough drivers coming through the training school at the moment to fill the immediate vacancies, and thereafter focus will start switching to internal candidates who have been waiting for training dates for full time in excess of a year. I don't doubt that many in the pool of unknown will start to hear things, and Night Tube will certainly be recruited, externally, fairly regularly as it is proving to have quite a large turnover (to absolutely no-one's surprise; the same happened last time the Company externally recruited for drivers).

Evening - start my training course at the end of Oct..anyone else on here joining me? Does anyone know the training course duration at all? I've heard week 9 is given as leave..is that correct? Do you think we'll be training over xmas?
Why do they have a large turnover is the job not that it is cracked up to be so to speak.

A lot of people underestimate the effects that shift work can have on your body, and your life outside of work. In the case of Night Tube, you're pretty much giving up every weekend. That's not for everyone, and a life outside the industry doesn't necessarily prepare you for what is to come.
There are other issues associated with Night Tube driving (and daytime driving), but I'm sure the drivers amongst us can elaborate better than me.

A lot of full timers have put in at least 20 years
There are currently 23 drivers already in training for Picc NT.
Training is generally pencilled in as 12 weeks on most lines, but allow a little longer. If you land on the Picc then it'll be 16 weeks officially but, again, allow a little longer.
As for working over Christmas, the simple answer is yes. You only get Christmas Day off. NYE attracts a premium payment and they ask for volunteers to work it, whether you do or not will be down to your instructor having volunteered or not. In most likelihood you will not work NYE.

Not yet Baz. There are a few of us waiting for AC1s that are being held this month and into November. Not sure about anyone else or how many as, of course, we only ever hear about the forum members. There will be many others who are not.
Jambo - After the initial process of applicants back in April, there were many of us left in limbo. We were told that they were processing all that were needed at the time but that we were being kept on file for the future. We became known as "The pool". April dragged on through the summer and into September before they started to call us up for AC1. Mine is 8 November.

There seems to be two pools being referred to here, those that were waiting for AC1 and those waiting for training slots.
In which case I would speculate that, no, "pool" members have not filled up those slots as some of those 23 on the Picc have started training weeks and weeks ago, well before you guys here received your invites. Maybe there has been natural wastage on other NT lines as well so there may well be slots to fill over there. On the other hand, maybe the Picc are looking to get the 23 qualified in the next few months and then start training even more in a few months time, with the intention that current NT drivers will be moved to full-time soon(ish).

None of the tests are meant to be completed. They are designed so that only the exceptional finish. They are looking for competent not exceptional.
