Lowestoft to Wolverhampton

Hello, i have an interview at Wolverhampton on the 14th January 2013, I am looking at possible transport, how much would a lowestoft to Wolverhampton ticket cost and i would prefer to go via peterborough and norwich, but if it is cheaper another route i will look that up, i need to arrive by 10am, so would it be easier to travel up on the sunday in which case my journey would end at birmingham new street. How much would this cost and which route, (the cheaper the better as long as it is at a sensible time, i.e not through london at rush hour) look forwards to your response and help.

Apart from using a booking engine to look up fares, there is a good site that will tell you all the fares available between any two stations: www.brfares.com

Note that the fares are due to change in January, and I am unsure if these changes have been applied to this site or not.

As you can see, the only "walk on" fares are routed NOT VIA London, but you can book Advance fares (subject to availability) via London.

In that case I suggest you consider if an Advance ticket (routed Virgin & Connections) would be suitable. Note you must stick to the booked trains and if you change your travel plans a £10 admin fee applies. Advance fares are not refundable. Full T&Cs here.

You can book on online (any TOCs booking site will do - your journey would primarily be with Virgin but you do not need to book with them) or at a station or by phone.

Try a split at Peterborough if advance fares aren't cheap enough.

I don't understand why you would need to end your journey at BHM if you travelled on the Sunday but you'll find the fares are probably the same and if not on an advance you most likely will be able to break your journey rather than buy a seperate return to Wolves.

I have accomadation available in Birmingham if i need it, which requires a bus journey from the bull ring.

Unless you can get to Norwich for 5am, I think stopping overnight is your only option. The cheapest route is a £12 Virgin advance ticket each way via London, and a £4.40 single from Birmingham to Wolverhampton.

If you don't want to commit to taking (say) the 11:45 back, one possibility is to get a web-only off peak single from Birmingham to Lowestoft for £45.30, which you could couple with a £4.90 off-peak return from Birmingham to Wolverhampton, valid after 9:30.

if it was me I would travel up on a Sunday and stay with your friend in Birmingham, you will be more refreshed for the interview and avoid any delays on the day,

Getting onto the ticket part I would get a return to Ely (return in one month) then try to book online with cross country trains from Ely to New Street, I know advance tickets from Ely to Leicester are around £6 to £7 and its the same train/route to New Street so can't see whole Ely to Birmingham fare being too much more
