Loughborough to Nottingham

Hello!

Beginning in mid-September until around August 2009 I'll be commuting from Loughborough on most weekdays to Nottingham (I'm starting a postgraduate course).
I'm confused about how to find the best value tickets -- I'm on a budget so obviously want to get the cheapest deal possible! I have looked at the Season Ticket Calculator on the NR website and from 15th September - 19 December it will be £301 for a season ticket. How can I work out whether or not just purchasing a ticket for the journey every day would be cheaper?

I have a Young Persons Railcard and wouldn't be making the journey at the weekends. I would also have a monthly break for Christmas and Easter.

I'm sorry if this is too vague or if it sounds stupid -- I'm just panicking about the cost! Any help at all would be so so appreciated.

day return is £6.60
weekly season is £24.80, i.e. £8.20 cheaper than 5 day returns
monthly season is £95.30, i.e. at least £3.90 cheaper than 4 weekly returns and you may get some extra days free.
£301 sounds about right for the period you mention

However, if you are based at Nottingham University Main campus, you could try Beeston instead of Nottingham which is £5 day return, £21.30 weekly season & £81.80 monthly season.

Also, you could use Barton Bus Indigo service from Loughborough which stops outside Nottingham Uni main campus and close to Nottingham Trent main campus. Don't know the cost for this

Finally, if you were at Nottingham Trent Clifton Campus, South Notts Service 1 is the best but the day ticket is about £5

What times are you travelling, if you are travelling outside of peak times it could possibly be cheaper for you to purchase "Day" tickets. Also how many days per peak will you be travelling?
