If they come back in service, they would still be electric. Why would Lothian get a new order of Mellor Stratas or a Minibus (which would probably be diesel) when it's just a tendered route and Lothian is going electric?

No13 is an Edinburgh City council contract and it would be up to them to extended it,

The 13 contract is changing and Edinburgh Coach Lines are confident that they will keep it alongside the 69 which looks to be coming back. I won't get to in depth as I'll get penalized for being "off-topic", but it will be from Blackhall to Dumbiedykes via Lothian Road. I don't have any details on the 69 at the current moment but the main contenders are believed to be Lothian and Edinburgh Coach Lines. I do not have info on the west except from the public news on the Gyle Centre service to Cramond.

Well if you want to get technical, then the 21 at the bottom of Easter Road or walk to Leith Walk and grab a 7, it's still better than other areas like Balerno or Slateford which have no direct buses to the Hospital either.

So I'm gonna guess after Queensferry Street the route will follow the 47 route to Surgeons Hall, turn at West Richmond Street, Pleasance before coming into Viewcraig Gardens? Eitherway at least Dumbiedykes might have a chance for a new bus link!

I'm not sure on the variation of the 69 what will be back, if it will be the 2019 one or another variation, e.g. Craigentinny loop. I will try and get some more information in the future but plans could change, but that's what is currently going on. If something else changes (say 69 coming back gets a change or something) then I will be sure to let the forums know. I can't really share all of the information though.

I’ve just had a thought. Maybe they could send the 69 up Easter Road then down Abbeyhill and have it terminating at Holyrood. It could interlink with the 13.

The tenders haven’t even been issued yet, so it will be a while yet before any awards are made. Therefore, anything you read is simply speculation/wishful thinking.

Depends on the route I suppose, Dumbiedykes is definitely not far from the city centre but I feel as if a good bus link would be useful, that was a suggestion when someone said the 69 should interwork with the 13.

I can't speak for all the residents in Dumbiedykes but say if about 30-40% are elderly, that means they have a free bus service, which doesn't pay for a service but still if it ran somewhere useful like the shops or doctors.. heck even throw in schools or universities for the younger ones, then there is potential.

I have had a further thought on Dumbiedykes. The nearest shopping centre must be Clerk Street so a route from Dumbiedykes via West Richmond Street then South Clerk Street towards Newington, The Meadows, Lothian Road then the 13 route to Blackhall?

No need to go via the Meadows. There's a Lidl and a Tesco Express close to Nicolson Square so the route could head directly to Tollcross and Lothian Road along Lauriston Place.

You'd stand a better chance of seeing Lord Lucan riding the winner in next year's Grand National than of the StreetAirs ever returning to service. Admittedly, it was a combination of circumstances which led to their very early withdrawal but nonetheless these six buses have to be the costliest flops ever in the history of Lothian and its predecessors.

So it's essentially the 47 route between West End and Surgeons Hall, couldn't see them doing it any other way which would overcomplicate the route like copying the 2 along Grassmarket or something!
