I'd like the 63 to go to every 30 mins and tie in with the 20 on the A8 section. I think it would be maximum hourly onto Balerno, most likely by just going the 45 route through Currie? Or is there scope to fire a bus out the back of HWU and along past Curriehill station? (new links etc...)
I rather see the 140 extend to Ocean Terminal than the QMU / Fort as this would create new links rather than replication.
The Dalkeith Heights 3's are a bit awkward in the timetable and indeed this area has been a thorn in their side as the access road through the new housing up there didn't get built etc...and the area has been served by the 33, 48, 49 and now 3. Unfortunately, there is no way to link those runs into the 139 or that would be ideal. Instead, I think a new local service might pop up in the Dalkeith area.
The 49 requires additional peak time buses into town in the evenings so I hope they are implemented - perhaps by tagging a working onto the front of an express working.
Regards the 106, I can't see that happening I'm afraid but they I do think might extend it over the Hospital to irk Prentice?
The 29 would be catastrophic at every 30 mins! They would most likely just run the 29 at current timetable back to the old terminus and only serve the Promenade with the "129" if they did re-introduce it.
I'd like to see an X13 tbh...could be done by extending the X44 along past Elphinstone Research Park and out to Pencaitland, even just two runs for now to test the water. The 113 has additional buses on the route at peak but it does need an express paired to it rather than more slow runs.
As much as the 63 would be handy being extended to Balerno, I doubt they would increase the frequency as they have stated there is no current demand, even if the 63 ommited HWU but still served the P&R folk can still connect with the 25/34/35 and 45 to the campus
I agree on the 140 to Ocean Terminal, since that doesn’t have a link to East Lothian and Midlothian and even Portobello which would tie all three of them together, especially if it went via the old 129 (Eve coaches) route past Fillyside!
The 49 is a disaster as a single decker route, it’s too long and cramped especially at the Royal Infirmary, if the 300 was extended from Cameron Toll to the Hospital it might pick up more of the heavy loadings off the 49, between the hospital and Surgeons Hall anyway and provide new links to Fountainpark and Slateford.
The 106 might get more improvement, especially if it was popular enough for a proper Sunday service! Again extending it to the hospital might work, if it followed the 400
Route or even via the Wisp down Greendykes providing a link to the housing there.
Seeing a 129 reintroduced (Seton Sands - Silverknowes) might work depending on the route it takes, since I think off the top of my head it would mirror a lot of preexisting routes already! Unless it ran via Milton Road instead of Portobello and down to Leith instead of the city and then Granton onto Silverknowes promenade? might be a little mix and match but that’s my guess
an X13 is definitely a good bet! Of all the East Lothian corridors Pencaitland is the one missing out on a proper express! Running onto the A1 after Tranent and onto Brunstane and then Limited stop to Haymarket!
Personally I would like to see an extended 300 to the Royal as mentioned above as Cameron Toll is just incomplete as a Terminus and especially when you can connect to so much more at the hospital (21/400) and it’s only an extra 5 minutes down the road!
* The 140 to ocean Terminal via Portobello and Fillyside
* X5 get a Sunday service
* 113 get the X13 at peak times and extend the N113 to Pencaitland
* 106 Extended to the hospital via the Wisp and a potential late evening service introduced between Musselburgh and Haddington/Dunbar (connect in Musselburgh from the 106 onto a 113 to Milton Road or 124 to Portobello)
*42 Extended to Silverknowes Promonade from Craigleith via Drylaw
*45 Extended to serve Gogarburn at peak times via Hermiston
*32 reintroduced (Balerno - Granton)
Via Currie, Wester Hailes Road (omits clovenstone), South Gyle, Gyle, Maybury, Barnton, Davidson Mains, Muirhouse, Granton Square
*30 Extended to Whitecraig
*X15 runs via A702 and Flotterstone (omits Bush) on Journeys to and from Penicuik, also limited stop in Morningside area now only serving Morningside Station/Churchhill and Bruntsfield Place, X15 also starts/ends at Waterloo Place, now runs along with regular service 15 at peak times
*Regular service 15 runs at peak times along with X15, later evening journeys introduced from Lochend/Penicuik. Hourly Sunday service introduced
*21 now runs every 15 minutes on Sundays from Royal Infirmary.
And finally the craziest idea ever
*New X21 introduces at peak times
