Ensignbus Lothian, January 2019
Volvo B9TLs LX11CWA / CWT / CVR / CVL / CWO

More B9's for Lothian. Believe the first six that were bought last year may be for Lothian Country and these five are to replace the B7's at East Coast.

Volvo B9Rs FJ11GLY / MMK / MMU / MLY / MOA

These are dual axle Caetano Levantes, ex National Express. There are six of these in total however the last unit had an issue between sales, so isn't mentioned in the list.

Its unknown if these are for Lothian or Lothian Motorcoaches specifically. It's believed Lothian Motorcoaches may have picked up a large contract. Some of these have been seen at Kings bus painters in Grangemouth already, pre-respray.

I'm sure Lothian Motorcoaches were created to deal with more "high end" work and actively refuse to do school work.

Maybe another brand coming perhaps? Lothian School Coaches? Haha

So that's 11 in total (so far), 7 to replace ECB's B7's and then the other 4 to allow the LC ex Bullocks B5LH's to go to the main fleet. Numbers certainly add up

I thought that was what they did on the 124 and then they made it permanent. I don't recall it being on the 106/X7 at any point, could be wrong though

You’re correct. All that’s changed with the 106/X7 is the introduction of a Sunday daytime service.

So did we really learn anything new from this launch today?

There seemed to a lot of hype on here regarding heritages buses etc. but from the twitter posts I’ve seen it was only the enviro 400XLB on display and they still didn’t confirm what routes they are intended for? Also any updates on future bus orders confirmed?

I'm not too sure they themselves decided a route yet, i see the entry in to service is not until March either.

We learned the seats are too close together. If you really want to encourage people (and especially men who tend to be bigger) to leave their cars, treating them like sardines is not the way. Still 100 seats sounds so much better than 96, and that's what matters.

Please don't let it be the 16 that gets them.

Tyere is a comment on twitter saying all depots are receiving these buses.

First I have heard of that.

No I met Mr Hall today. He told me and my mate who was with me but I cannot say anything

This first batch is for Central. Perhaps future orders will go to other depots but these 42 E400XLB's should all be for Central

I've learnt what the routes are but I'm sworn to secrecy

We could still speculate, it’s much more fun that way, if each depot is getting these buses I can imagine it will be for the routes that need new buses the most

Since there was talk of the 31/37 being possible candidates from Central, my guess is from Marine it would be maybe the 12, 21 or 49 and Longstone could be the 3, 33 or 34.

If East Coast Buses or Lothian Country got a taste of the 100 seater too i’d say That the 113 and 43 respectively would get them

Reminds me of Scania Omnidekka, the legroom on them is nothing short of abysmal.

Scanias *shudders* I hated them.... spent a good number of years travelling between Fountainpark/Calder Rd and Gogarburn.... was always a joy when the 35 wasn't a Scania!

I can’t see ECB getting any, but if they did then I don’t think it would be on the 113. I reckon it would struggle with 2 or 3 corners round Ormiston as some of the current buses still struggle occasionally.
The 104 would be my bet if ECB were to get any.
