Point taken - that would have a far larger amount of support. My school of thought was that "finishing the job" would tick a few GNRP boxes.
I think the only way you'd win Tory support on that route section, is to get on your knees and beg for forgiveness for shutting down all the mines, inflicting the poll tax, Thatcher etc. Putting the knitting up won't cut it! Anyway, as has already been said, the current government will probably re-reanounce it as a ''new" scheme by tacking on Kirkby or Southport to it.
