After our earlier excitement of our train terminating short at Edinburgh, it turns out one of my kids left one of their devices on the train in our rush to catch the connecting train.

We've registered it on MissingX but given we can see it's showing up as at the Hitachi Maintenance Depot at Craigentinny is there anything else we can do, apart from wait for it to eventually make its way to lost property (maybe) ?

Speak to the LNER team in the ticket hall and explain the situation. It's possible they may be able to get it back to Edinburgh on an empty stock move or you can pick it up from the depot gates.

Their website states that it will be stored in Newark Northgate for collection or you can pay to get it sent to you

LNER lost property database

MissingX is the provider of the LNER lost property database, helping to reunite you with your lost property. If you have lost an item at or on a train to an LNER station, we ask that you register an online report with MissingX. We will search for your item for up to three months.

Please note that LNER operates services from Inverness to London King's Cross, therefore your item may be in the possession of another train operator depending on where it was misplaced.

Any items found are handed in and securely stored for 12 weeks at our Lost Property Hub in Newark Northgate. Items can be collected in person, or alternatively, you can pay to have it couriered to you.

Any items at Craigentinny will be transferred from Hitachi to LNER at Edinburgh Waverley. This can sometimes take over a week to happen.

Once it arrives at Waverley it will then transfer down to Newark (again usually once a week) where it will remain for 12 weeks.

Is there any fee incurred which is payable when retrieving lost/mislaid items, such as the device mentioned by the OP?
